I frequently hear people say that they can't recognize good tasting food from bad tasting. I know that everyone likes different things, but to say that you can't recognize what you like is something that always angers me when I hear it.

It's something evolutionary, we've evolved to recognize when something tastes off to protect us. Otherwise we would be eating rotten food that apparently looks perfectly fine. So don't come to me saying you can't recognize good food.

That being said, the definition of good will vary from person to person. I, for once, don't like seafood. And almost all Chinese food I've tasted has a taste or smell of fish. So in general I hate Chinese food.

And that's what I've noticed with a lot of people. They may say they would eat anything because it's the same. But when you watch them eat, many remove a part of the dish. Either because of a dietary restriction, or because they don't like the taste (gotcha!).

I get it when they say it just to be nice. But I hate it when it's to plan the meal, and just after it's done they remember they don't like pineapple on the pizza. If I asked and even listed the options and you said you were fine with anything, you better eat it all or nothing at all. Otherwise I will watch every little piece of meal you left aside. And may god forbid you if you happen to do that after I cooked something custom just for you.
