Younique Tale 6

The most troubling thing happening right now is that Younique's marketing strategy has changed. Instead of trying to market to *external customers*, with the goal of getting them reach out to a Younique Presenter to buy products, the new strategy is to just sell to the *Presenters*. This makes sense, given that the ['Saving Lashes, Changing Lives'](https://younique.desk.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2842379-saving-lashes-changing-lives) campaign was a push to reach 1,000,000 Presenters. Now that they've done that (also, do the math people: if there are 999,999 other Younique Presenters, you're not going to make any money shilling that crap), they have one million built-in customers. Which means their new marketing technique is just marketing *directly* to the Presenters. In other words, the *Presenters* are the ones placing the vast majority of sales, and it's not because they're placing them on behalf of external customers. It's classic MLM 'garage qualifying' at its finest. Presenters: you’re not a seller, you’re a customer. It’s the opposite of what they claim. It's also even more obviously a pyramid scheme now: "A lack of retail sales is also a red flag that a pyramid exists. Many pyramid schemes will claim that their product is selling like hot cakes. However, on closer examination, the sales occur only between people inside the pyramid structure or to new recruits joining the structure, not to consumers out in the general public." [Reference: Pyramid Schemes, FTC](https://www.ftc.gov/public-statements/1998/05/pyramid-schemes) — *Ex-Employee* ---------------------------------------------------------------------- **Definition: Garage Qualified** Distributors who stockpile products in large amounts and store them. This is usually done to receive large incentives or rewards from the MLM company. In some MLMs, distributors can only earn their downline commissions if they have placed an order that month. The garage qualified distributor intends to sell or use the products at a later date. But there is no guarantee they can sell these products, and as the market gets more and more saturated, it is harder and harder for them to sell. So the distributor can be left with large amounts of the product without a sale. Often stored in their garage. But hey, they're still rising through the ranks ... #Younique #MLM #antiMLM #cult #garagequalified #pyramidscheme
