MANCHESTER UNITED WEEKLY Wednesday, 2 May 2018 TRANSFER TALK Briliant display of calculated football. Martial and Rasford’s presence in the team clearly added that extra element of pace, guile in the team and the introduction of Martial and Rashford also helped Manchester United which arsenal found near impossible to control. These must have been a mere portion of the thoughts of some Manchester United fans as the criowd exited the Old Trafford stadium on Sunday. This past weekends match between the club from East Manchester, England and the club from the north side of London had been highly anticipated simply because of the history between the two clubs. Or was it? Was there a glimps of bad blood between both managers? Or was there a few players in the pitch who felt they had some small mission of proving themselves to the opposing sides manager as well as the fans of the opposing sides. Whatever the alterio motives might have been, last Sundays match was one that had moments of excitement and a few flairs but most importantly, the match resulted to yet another victory for Manchester United as the club keeps moving closer to the end of another decent season. A second place finish would be yet another impressive spot to finish this current season on but little questions have started to creep up from different corners of the Red side of Manchester asking the question “ Will Manchester United ever win Medals Under Mourinho”? Can Manchester United dethrone teams such as Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich with this current group of defender or will the club look to seriously invest on one or two rock solid Centre-Backs to take charge of the defensive line for Manchester United next season? Last weekends press confrence was one that brought delight for the manchester united faithful crowd as our Portuguese manager confirmed, in so many words, that Manchester United will be entering the transfer window in search of another quality Centre Back to add to the clubs roaster. Manchester United has been exhibiting clear signs of unstable defence this current season which has. resulted in hefty price for the club on the red side of Manchester. Also, there has been no seecrret that the faithful crowd have just about had enough of the clubs current defensives problems and demanded that Mourinho resolves the clubs defensive issues before the start of next season if the Red Devils are to have any realistic chance of compete for domestic and european tittles next season. Mourinho appearently has either been listening to the thoughts of the fans through social media, Blogs etc or the Manchester United manager had also been unsatisfied with the club unstable defense himself. The portuguese manager had already told the press earlier last week that Manchester United would be bringing in more players into the club inother to provide the club with a lot more boost to keep up with other high profile clubs not just in the premier league as well as other high profile clubs around but Mourinho was not quite about which position he will be intent on improving in this summers transfer window. Here is what Mourinho had to say : The reality is that some clubs were ready to win while other clubs are not ready to win. One thing is to go for the jugular and another is to build a different process. If the clubs that are in a better position than us stop investing and we invest, then we are side to side. If they keep investing the same or more than us, it’s difficult. “ in the last seven years Manchester City were Champions twice and if you want to say three times because they will be in a few more weeks- and they were second twice. That’s heritage. Do you want to know what is also heritage? Otamendi, Kevin De Bryune, Fernandinho, (David) Silva, (Raheem) Sterling, (Sergio) Aguero, they are investments from the past not from the last two years. The Manchester United Manager was then asked if he was concerned Manchester United may never catch Manchester City, Mourinho Answered : I’m not saying that. Mourinho went on to say : I won the Champions League with Inter Milan. I did not win the Champions League with Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi. I never played with Messi and when I was Ronaldo’s manager we did not manage to win the Champions League. We (Manchester United) can and we will fight for it ( Titles) again, no doubts.” Mourinho even compared the challenge facing currently at Manchester United with the one he once faced as Real Madrid manager “Obviously Real Madrid had a nucleus of players of a really high level,’ mourinho added “ But I’m always confident. Using the words in football, substitution bring it to life and to the job, there is no substitute for hard work and belief. So judging Mourinho’s recent statement with the statement he put out during his post match interview last Sunday April 22 were he said “ Can we improve next season, let’s try. Can Manchester City keep this level or improve this level on them they can say but if they have the team they have and they are going to invest on top of the team they have, ofcause it is going to be very difficult for us”. So when asked what the future plans are for his own team? Mourinho replied “ We are going to invest the basics to improve our squad. We need to find a replacement for micheal Carrick, and if Marouane Fellaini leaves then we need to find a replacement for him. There is always, in a group of players, in a squad, a couple of players who they are not playing a lot & they try obviously to leave. So we are going to try again to touch our squad and to believe more than just spend spend spend, is better to just concentrate on the evolution of our players. We have some new players who still need to grab with both hands the opportunity for their evolution and that is it. But in this moment I don’t think about next season. We want to finish second & we deserve to finish second.” So to summerize, it seems as though Manchester United are indeed planing to bring one or two players during this summers transfer window but Mourinho’s main objective will be focused on retaining and improving the current group of players in the team in preparation for next season. This sounds like a very good logic and should be acceptable to Manchester United fans. With Mourinho more or less confirming the clubs intentions of being active in this summers transfer window, the question now is who will Manchester United bring in and what possitions will Manchester United be improving this summer? One very interesting news that has caught the attention of the Manchester United Post is that Manchester United are strongly interested in pursuing ex Manchester United man Johny Evans. Evans, 30 years of age, currently plays his football for english club side West Brom. Evans has just one more year left in his current contract wish expires in the 30th of June 2019, after which Evans will be allowed to leave if a new contract has not been offered to Evans by then. Evans is currently valued at a rate of £13.5 Million with a £3 milion realese clause which will automatically be effective when West Brom are religated at the end of the current season which would make the Northern Irish man an easy aquisition for Manchester United this summer. But the big question regarding the speculated return of Johnny Evans is how will the return of Evans sit with Manchester United fans? Manchester United fans have made no secret of the fact that Manchester United need a strong proven Centre Back who can take charge of Manchester Uniteds defence with Eric Bailey as a reliable partner but the faithfull fans of Old Trafford might just lact a burst of joy if one of the clubs past heroes does make his return to the club where the Northern Irish man was once adored simply based on his age. Manchester United have maid no secrets of their strong desire to have a new young center back added to the club this transfer but the aquisition of Johnny Evans might just leave the fans with a lot of mixed emotions which might be just a little more negative than possitive. One thing is for sure, if Johnny Evans will eventually end up moving to Manchester United this summer, then Mourinho has already started to make room for Evans return with the speculated sale of Victor Lindelöf. Lindelöf has struggle to find a place in the starting IX and has inevitably fallen down the pecking order in manchester United. The sweedish born defender was purshased during the summer of 2017 with the expectation of replacing the departed Rio Ferdinand and Nemaja Vidic but the Swedish defender have failed to live up to the expectation. Mourinho is destined to find the Linderlof situation and the aquisition of Johnny Evan a little tricky because while Johnny Evans will be open to cutting ties with recently relegated West Brom in exchange for a return to Old Trafford, Linderlof whose current contract still runs until 2021 will be easily coarsed into leaving Manchester United. Mourinho has a lot of work ahead and ManchesterUnitedPost.com will be keeping a close tab on the clubs activities during this Transfer season and will keep our lovers of Football posted every Wednesday throught the summer.
