RFC-228

by Darius Kazemi, August 16 2019

In 2019 I'm reading one RFC a day in chronological order starting from the very first one. More on this project here. There is a table of contents for all my RFC posts.

Someone's been reading the code

RFC-228 is titled “Clarification”. It's by Dave Walden of BBN, and dated September 22, 1971.

The technical content

This RFC is a correction to RFC-70. There's an error in some source code provided by Steve Crocker, and Walden provides a missing line of code.

Analysis

When someone corrects your code like this, it can be a good thing. In this case it means that BBN was at least trying to read and maybe run some of Crocker's code!
