Commitment

Committing is usually something that requires effort. A decision to stick by something, to stick to it. I am committed to my desk chair most days, much rather a sun lounger, or a lush patch of grass. Alas, to give to my profession I have to commit to a chair. My bottom commits far more readily to a chair than my mind to my work.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if being committed to the things in need of your intentional commitment was as forthcoming as the way you are committed to a bed when 'taken' ill. I am taken by my work on occasion. I am committed to it.

I am taken by how much an older style of language, and turns of phrase sometimes have such better bearing on the meaning and visceral understanding of things.
