April 30, 02020 - Watercolor Sketches

Over the past couple of months, I've been really enjoying sketching with watercolors. Although I've long loved this artform as a viewer, I've always been more of a pen & pencil person myself.

The vast majority of the art that I've ever made is black & white — conjured with firm, fine tips — so adapting to using a brush has been a really interesting process. That being said, anyone who's seen my pen/pencil stuff will likely see a strong kinship between a lot of what I've been painting and what I tend to draw.

I'm usually the sort of person to just grab any old used scrap of paper and make the blank parts/side my canvas, but Kate was kind enough to give me a small stack of actual watercolor paper, which has made a big difference.

Anyway, I'll probably share more photos of what I've been coming up with in the future, but in the meantime, you can see the first watercolor sketch I made here.
