#procamera a paid iOS app that NEEDS location services to even open itself

***what gives? this isn’t salty for fun, but this is a push to have a company do the right thing.*** text of the review in case it never hits the app store: The camera app itself is nice, BUT - when I went to install it on my iPad, it REQUIRES location access to be allowed to even get into the app to use it at all. This is poor form, for people like myself, who don’t use location access for anything. The *moment* I turned that on with my iPhone, my battery life went to total garbage, and I assure you it had to do with all number of apps scraping analytics data, and the fact that I have a library of 20,000 or so photos… So, lets just take a moment to ask the developer kindly and politely to enable using this app without having to submit to the gods of analytics, and perhaps they will listen. Perhaps not, but it was worth a try, otherwise It would be nice to get a refund, but I’m not going to pester apple about this. Or it would be nice to just get to use the software how I want to - without granting location access. I don’t do geo tagging. But i did like the camera app. It produces fabulous HDR’s and the “Vivid” setting is really quite lovely. also, the anti shake is pretty damn good, as a former canon system user who has the L lenses, I found this quite competent. So, anyhow, I would not recommend this app to anyone until the location thing is fixed, but after that i would suggest it to people who want to take better photos but don’t want a super complicated application, and does have some room to grow in there as well. Until then, I’d rather this zero stars if I could, because it’s such an ostentacious move on the part of the developer to barr access in this manner. I hadn’t noticed with the iOS device because I’d granted it thinking “oh what could possibly go wrong” the last time I used location services was in 2013 and my iPhone overheated and decided to stop charging… Also, not salty, just really needed to say this. This review has been backed up and inserted into the fediverse as well. #procamera
