Korean man in his twenties tried to steal the information
A Korean-registered man was filed for an attempt to steal information by setting up a computer virus on the Chongryon website.
There is a suspicion that a Korean man in his twenties tried to steal the information of the accessed terminal by falsifying the website of Chongryon from within Korea in 2017 and setting up a computer virus. According to the Public Security Department of the Metropolitan Police Department, the man was a student majoring in cybersecurity in South Korea at the time, and was working at the request of an acquaintance. It is believed that the purpose was to collect information on Japanese government agencies and civilians who browse the website of Chongryon, but so far it has not been confirmed that information has been leaked from organizations in Japan. The Ministry of Public Security has not disclosed the approval or disapproval of men, but is investigating the background of the person who asked the man, saying that “the involvement of a national organization is suspected.”
