A Song That Through The Sea

Without a word, I know you. Without a chance, I cherish you. But I will keep a foolish hope in my heart: May the sea deliver my song to you.
Human World
Have you ever felt familiar with strange things? Leviathan does. For him, visiting Sea World after attending monthly otaku club meetings was the best decision he had ever taken this week ... or, the worst? His heartbeats are faster than usual. He doesn't know why.
Is it because he loves the sea? But this is an artificial world. Isn't Sea World in the human world looking normal? There are no monsters like in Devildom. And “normal” tends to be boring, Leviathan hates both 'normal' and 'boring'. So, why do his heartbeats do the opposite?
He walked slowly to enjoy his vacation, although he can't ease that strange feeling. His gaze traveled respectfully through an aquarium to another aquarium, from corner to corner. He sensed something all of sudden. The more he walked toward it, the more his heartbeats got louder.
“This scent ... this sound ... someone's crying underwater. But, who?” said Leviathan to himself.
He followed his instinct and stopped in front of an aquarium. Sit on to the rock, there is a mermaid. Leviathan knew their existence is real, Lotan also told him long ago. But, he hasn't been predicted, mermaid ... is much more gorgeous than he ever imagined, nor in anime and light novel's description.
She is ethereal, the most beautiful creature Leviathan had had ever seen. Her white hair waves tenderly under the water. Her colorful eyes make him stunned, although they are teary. She also has a rainbow-colored tail. As a sea-serpent demon, Leviathan could know which are water and tears.
His heart beats getting faster and louder. It feels uneasy, but somehow relieving. Also, he could feel her emotions. He just ... could. He doesn't have an explanation of how or why. They just met, but Leviathan feels like they had been connected since long ago.
He feels like he knows her. She is lonely. She is fragile. She is strong. She is pure. She is full of sadness and anger. But, she doesn't lose hope. She has a strong will to come back to her home. Suddenly, envious flows in his blood. She's brave, not like him ... a coward who hides a real himself.
You shouldn't be there. You ... deserve all the best in this world. Obviously, Leviathan was too shy to say that. He came closer instead.
“Why are you trapped here?” He whispered in mermaid language.
“Who are you?” Her lovely voice sounds surprised. A human wouldn't understand her language.
Leviathan even doesn't know who he really is. So, he just smiled at her.
Then, they were gazing into each other. He hasn't asked anything. She hasn't told anything. This silence seemed to last forever, but they were comfortable with that.
“I-I'm a demon. Err .... Devildom also has sea and ocean, but there's no sun.” Leviathan started the topic. He needs to hear her voice again.
“Cool. I'll become stronger until I get my human look too.” She smiled. Leviathan's face turned red heavily.
GAAHHH! CRITICAL DAMAGE. IT'S ILLEGAL TO BE THIS SUPER DUPER ULTRA AMAZINGLY CUTE. He screamed internally.
“Do you want to come home?” Leviathan tried to change the topic directly.
“Who doesn't? I'm still not strong enough to break this wall, but I'm sure I will be able to do it sooner or later.”
Then, they were sharing stories about themselves. Leviathan's blood boiled while listened to her story about humans. He wanted to destroy all of them for her. He wants to give all the whole world to her. He doesn't know why, he just wants to.
Slowly, Leviathan put his hand on the aquarium. He closed his eyes and kissed the glass of that aquarium. The mermaid replied his kiss. Once again, their feelings are delivered through the air, glass, and water ... deeper than before. They opened their eyes almost at the same time. They smiled softly.
Now I'm sure I know you, my heart does. Maybe, from past times or another universe.
Leviathan pats her head from outside. Then, he turned around. He changed to his demon form. “Come forth, Lotan!” Lotan's arrival makes the entire Sea World get chaotic.
“Please take her to the sea safely, Lotan. Leave the rest to me.”
He didn't brave enough to say goodbye himself. He was too scared to look at her for the last time. But he's determined to help.
Live your life freely. You will always be an irreplaceable part of my world. Again, he couldn't say it.
“Hey, you! I'll kick your ass when we meet again!” Leviathan could hear her scream from afar.
Lucifer is gonna hang him when he's home, but Leviathan doesn't care. All he wants is she's safe and free. He doesn't care anything else even though he understood he'll be missing her. He doesn't regret it even if he doesn't know her name yet.
Will we meet again? We are always under the same sky, but, we don't live under the same sea.
Cosmo and Devil April Edition has a new headline: “The Identity of The Mysterious Sea Shanty Singing Otaku on TokTik Revealed!”. It is Leviathan, his face on the magazine cover too. Since that day, he has had a new hobby: singing a sea shanty. He sings his song, just for her. He hopes sea will deliver his sincere song.
And once a month, he comes to the sea in the human world. He wants to see her again. Lotan only guided her to the nearest sea. 2/3 of the human world is water. So it would be difficult to find a mermaid.
In Leviathan's heart, that short time will last forever. He wishes he also become an unforgettable part of her world.
