The God of Truth.

As humans, fallible beings and imperfect due to our own actions, we struggle with the truth. Now-a-days especially, our minds are constantly under assault by “Fake News”, “Alternative Facts”, Media Bias and our own peers. The truth holds no weight in this world anymore. Fortunately our King in Heaven is a just and righteous king. He loves the truth, and His Spirit and Son are truth incarnate.

If our God loves truth what does that mean for us as Christians? It means that we can rest in two things. One if we are to be assailed by people who wish to harm us, our supplication to our God will reveal where the truth lies (no pun intended). Our God is a God of light and wisdom. King David wrote in Psalm 139 “Even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for the darkness is as light with you.” Our prayer is simple, to show us what we cannot see, and to reveal to us what He knows.

Second, if He is the God of Truth, we can trust in him. Both the word Trust and Truth come from the same meaning, fidelity and faith. We can have faith in God because of His truth. Truth is the outcropping of faith. Often times in an argument, we want our answer to be right, we have faith that our argument is sound. We have faith in the truth.

If our God is always truthful and knows all truth, then we can look to him when lies are swirling about us. We can look to him when we have no clue where to turn. I guarantee that small amount of faith to pray for direction will always be given to you. As long as you stop before you act and pray, God will direct your steps. Knowing the truth is true freedom, and even if you’re wrong, at the end of the day at least you know where everything stands.
