Peace, be still. It’s an interesting sentiment isn’t it? We are told all through the Bible that our God is the God of peace. As I’ve gone over previously, God wants us to be put in perfect peace because we trust in Him. But let’s look at this in another way, WHY should we put our trust in God.

As I have used as an analogy previously, our God is akin to a good father. As children we put faith in our parents to do things for us. Whether that is telling a bully off on a playground, to help us with our school work, or later on to maybe help us financially or with advice when we’ve gotten ourselves into something not so pleasant. Our father in heaven is the same way.

His son, Christ Jesus, came to this Earth to tell us on a personal level how our Father in heaven helps those that believe in Salvation. In Matthew, Christ tells us “Look at the birds of the air, for they do not sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns. Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?” (Matt 6:26, ESV) We have seen in many instances of our Father doing miraculous things to help us in this life and the world obeys in kind because its creator commanded it.

That brings us back to the quoted verse in the beginning. Christ was woken up on a ship in the midst of a storm by his disciples. They were afraid unto death. Jesus proceeded to tell them they were “of little faith” and then commanded the weather to be at “Peace” and to “be still”.

We are commanded the same in life. We are commanded the simple command of “Be still” and “Know” that He is God. He will take care of it how He sees fit. He will show his wonders to us (Micah 7:15) and all we have to do is be still and know that He is God. He will take care of us just like He cares for the rest of creation. His glory will be shown among all others and if we believe in Him, more than anything we want is to proclaim his great name.

So at the end of the day, no matter what life sends your way, and believe me I know its easier said than done, just be still, focus on the one who made you and know He will take care of it in His time.
