One More Update: June 2020

I would like to start this monthly update on the One More Home project by sharing some really exciting news. New Story Charity, the nonprofit which this projects supports announced earlier this week that they have resumed building homes in El Salvador, more specifically in Comunidad El Espino, a community that has been neglected and displaced from their homes for many years and they will finally get to own decent and safe homes.

Comunidad El Espino is the community the One More Home project has committed to support in 2020 by donating $10000 ($8000 to build one home and $2000 for community support) through our participation in New Story's Architects Program. Having already raised $3425 in fiat donations throughout 2019, the outstanding $6575 will be transferred in XRP throughout the rest of 2020 from the current project XRP balance (which you can check out here):

PayID

The last few days have been all about PayID, the new universal payment identifier aiming to make sending money as simple as sending an email, which was widely announced by its founding members across social media earlier this month.

Thanks to the support of our great friend, fellow GSG member and awesome XRPL Dev, NixerFFM One More Home is catching up with the trend and now has it's own PayID, which points to the project's XRPL wallet: onemorehome$goodxrp.org

My Take

2020 has been a difficult year for One More Home in many aspects, specially with the cryptocurrency markets facing strong headwinds because of the uncertainty brought upon us by the pandemic, bringing our funding status a few steps back. However, I remain as confident as ever that we will not only fulfill the commitment of funding three homes in the next three years, but we will exceed it.

For so many families that were already living in survival mode before COVID, things have just gotten a lot more difficult as lockdowns have cut their daily income for weeks now. It will take huge efforts for them to recover. Let's aim to bring back hope and opportunity to them by helping them feel safe in a decent and adequate home.
