Uploaded the 48 unedited Ummon-kan cases to a gallery here: Ummon-Kan
I plan to infrequently continue my digital transcription of these, with new alterations to the text plus additional notes and comments. Currently, most of the #ummonkan entries here are direct copies, so I'll be gradually returning to those to re-edit them too.
Cut-up anti-review of THE TICKET THAT EXPLODED William Burroughs' operating occult grimoire masquerading as 1960s counterculture novel. Produced for a zine (2020).
Framed as anti-novel — a text challenging visual cinematic culture by positing that we have evolved our visual culture into a living organism, a new sensory organ, forming an extension of our nervous system [and] subject to an invasion of alien control messages.
To combat this the text deploys stretching and distorting of visual and sensory perceptions, guiding the reader through a synaesthesia that unravels all objective illusions of the linear “hologram reality”.
The story itself — the narrative — operates as a sickness to flood the consciousness of the reader.
The text is a series of “Junkie Koans” — destabilising alien messages.
The text requires the reader to melt their head right down into the text body.
The reality mixtape!! presenting as mass-market paperback [or] avant-garde literature [or] anti-novel — actually an operating grimoire — a working manual for priming or re-wiring your brain.
