Budget stuff

I am going to be doing a pretty big grocery shopping trip tomorrow and the majority of the stuff that i am going to get is sort of “mix & match” type of foods (dressing, sauces, spices, herbs, pastas, etc), so i think i can make it last a while.

I am also going to be working on paying the 'rents back what i owe them in the next couple of weeks + getting my dad a (very good) Norelco 8900 Series electric razor and that will basically leave me w/ a littttle bit of scratch leftover for myself which will have to cover lightbulbs, Cascade, a planner, detergent, laundry monies, and a Summer sleeping bag for my (possibly solo) backpacking trip that I have planned for October.

I do not think a tattoo or piercings are going to happen this go 'round, but that doesn't mean I won't get them before the year's end. I still have more budget type of stuff i have to get in order this month besides the stuff i just mentioned. Pain in the ass, really.

But i'll survive. I just need foodskee to eat and nicotine in my system and i am a happy camper.

that's about all for now.

What's for dinner, you asked?

Fucking hoagie bread and spicy mustard. Yea, it sounds plain af (and it is) but it has lots o'flavor. I could make rice w/ a bunch of veggies and be all healthy and shit, but i am sort of saving my hunger for tomorrow when i get a couple things from the store. (That and i am too lazy to cook).

I need to read something GOOD

The books i have read lately sucked and i need to find something that really suits me proper. I have no idea what that book is, but i will try to find it at SLCL when i return the “successful book publishing”....book, i checked out. It is long overdue, anyway.

Coffee is about ready. I am about ready for a nap. I am bored out of my mind and bummed as fuck.

Fuuuuuuck

making coffee again because depression

i am so bummed that i am going to be broke in the near future. i mean i will make it through. but i wish i wasn't broke.

anyway, the coffee should be good.

Finances

Something came up sort of last-minute here and i will be fairly broke next month it looks like :(:(:(

It isn't a big deal, but i think i am going to have to stock up even more than i expected when i go to the grocery store AND sell some silver. Pain in the ass when shit like this happens, but, that's how it goes. I am hoping this won't set me back a while because even though i have the $$$, it isn't like i have a lot of it to begin with.

I already have the #budget made out but i am not going to be able to go on the backpacking trip next month because (duh) broke. Something always comes up that prevents me from a backpacking trip (which blows). In fact; i may even have to put the tarp on CL to put together what I need for the next month. Again, sucks.

Cowboy Coffee

So, minimalism. I am “decluttering” or whatever even more so than I have in the past year in recent weeks. I started by making some “deep cuts” into my wardrobe + paperwork. Then I got rid of some unnecessary kitchen stuff. Then i liquidated (donated to SLCL) my book collection. And just now I got rid of the two milk crates that held the book collection. Those just went in the dumpster. A waste, i know, but who the fuck am I gonna give milk crates to? And now, I am thinking about how it would be to make “Cowboy Coffee” (which is a term i heard of in Backpacker Magazine, I believe) and what that is: it is where you bring water to a rolling boil and add as much coffee as desired directly to the boiling water (not instant coffee, mind you) and give give it a good stir and then drink it, grains and all. Seems a little extreme but a lot of people do it when they are backpacking. This would rid me of my Bodum French press. I am not making this jump yet until I try it a few times. I think I can pull it off though. I may even be able to get away with using less coffee grounds, which saves money! :) The goal is to make it unnecessary for a coffee “maker” of any kind. The French press is very minimal but NO coffee maker at all is even more minimal. Hell, I may even forgo the Gatorade bottle that I haul around the apartment and start using the military canteen I just bought as it would otherwise not be getting any use other than when I am hiking.

Things to think about.

hello

wide awake now. i was awoken by my neighbors having sex but i am sort of glad they woke me up because now i can drink coffee and enjoy the early AM hours :) I spent the past 30 mins or so looking at the (@)vanlifediaries Instagram account and seeing all the cool setups people have. But one thing i can say about myself for sure: i will never have a drivers license and i will never have a van. I do like the whole vagabonding thing though. That part is awesome.

Speaking of trekking, in the previous blog post i talked about cutting down my Amazon list and not buying the tarp stakes (instead using sticks), not buying guylines (instead using cooking twine) and not buying a Tyvek (instead using a plastic sheet) and i decided that the cheaper, utilitarian option is the way to go. This saves me $$$ that can be put towards more immediate things in my life. The sleeping bag is still going to be purchased, but the rest can go by the wayside, so to speak.

I am also going to try to get in a day hike at some point in the future but it seems that everyone's schedule is so tied up, that it would just be easier for me to ask the sister to drive me to WSP in early October and me do an overnighter there.

Anyway, it is a nice AM.

Be back in a bit!

Backpacking Gear

I am preparing for a backpacking trip that i am going to be doing October 21-23 and i added the last things i need for the trip to my Amazon cart. The items are:

  • tarp stakes
  • guyline cord
  • Tyvek (8x9 ft)
  • summer sleeping bag

I have everything else. Of course I will need foodskee as well, but that is going to come the day of the trip, i am guessing. But there is a possibility of me going on a SOLO backpacking trip to Washington State Park (WSP) in early October if I can make the proper arrangements for it. I am going to try to do everything in my power to make that happen.

If not, this trip to Meramec State Park (MSP) will be good by itself, too.

I am going to see if I can fashion something together as far as a Tyvek material here at home so i do not have to pay the (crazy) price of $33 for the sheet I just mentioned. In fact, i can use some of the 'rents cooking twine instead of guylines as well (for this trip). And I could use simple sticks in lieu of stakes for the trip as well. All things to consider.

laundry has commenced

i have had two cups o'coffee

twitter is slow af

and i am blogging (obvs)

I got nada to do today or tomorrow, but Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday I will be v busy. This is a good thing.

Tuesday and Wednesday i am just chilling at the 'rents w/ my dad while my mom does running around and then Friday I go to get more paperwork for the loan discharge. It is going to take about a month for the approval but I am sure it will come.

October 3rd I start the EdX course & then a backpacking trip in late-October.

As far as STLCC goes, i am less than excited about next semester. I am almost positive that some enrollment issue will spring up and then not allow me to take any classes. It is a royal pain in the ass and I am not even putting it in the forefront of my mind at the moment because it is not worth thinking about.

Anyway, be back in a bit

Intentional Writing

Is what this is.

I am having coffee right now which is much needed after a lousy day of sleeping (in the evening time, anyway). Tomorrow will be a boring day as well, i think. I know that I am going to the 'rents on Sunday and dad has finally made it back to their house, so that is good.
