i have a lot of sync issues w/ write.as

if it syncs to tumblr, it won't sync to twitter. if it syncs to twitter, it won't sync to tumblr. idk why this is.

but i like write.as a lot

on another note: i think tomorrow will be a day i spend all day playing on the iPhone because when it arrives (in the morning, apparently) it is gonna be such an awesome shock to be back on iOS that i really won't know what to do w/ myself (besides install TweetBot first thing). Gonna be epic.

i am starting afresh w/ a new Apple acct because i do not need all the old shit i bought in the past + do not have access to that e-mail anymore. Just easier to use my ProtonMail acct (+ probably safer).

i never plan on installing Google apps on the iPhone bc i am trying to “DeGoogle” myself, but i will have to find a good way to search besides DuckDuckGo or whatever (that is powered by Google but it sucks somehow anyway). YouTube will be watched through the Safari browser (while not signed-in, just like i have it on this phone right now) and....yeah. Not installing anything by Google.

i am glad i made the decision to not return to BlackBerry (i was going to get the Q10, as you know if you have been reading this blog for a while).

anyway, i am almost broke. haha. that isn't a bad thing bc that just means being more frugal (+ i don't eat as much junk). i bought everything i needed for the time being though; a great book, hat, iPhone, flash drive, etc. Good times.

be back in a bit!

Easter Fool's Day

had a good time. ate some great food w/ the fam at the PT section of the hospital. Came home & slept bc i had such shitty sleep last night. Made it to BP just before they closed & got a pack of smokes + a fountain soda.

As for tomorrow, i think the iPhone 6 is arriving before 10 AM (according to FedEx). This is a v good thing. Tomorrow is going to be awesome.

The book “On War” is making it way to me tomorrow as well , i think. Possibly Tuesday. And Friday i get my awesome military cadets hat (that i ordered last-minute).

all in all, all is well.

why am i/would i, do college?

what is the end game in all this? i plan on finished my certification in Writing Research Methodologies & everything, but, why am i bothering to re-enroll at STLCC? Don't get me wrong, i pan on doing all of the paperwork that is necessary to discharge my student loans (that is in-progress right now) but that has nothing to do w/ re-enrollment. I can never go to college another day in my life and i still qualify for the full discharge. The question is; why am i bothering w/ any college paperwork/courses/applications/etc at ALL when i don't really want to be in college? The flat-out, fact of the matter is; i don't FEEL like doing the coursework. Nothing prevented me from continuing at JeffCo in 2012 other than, i didn't feel like taking classes anymore. I could have had my AA or AAS four times over by now had i put more effort into enrollment/paperwork/whatever. So why should this become a pertinent thing all of a sudden? No one cares (mostly bc no one cares about what a 34 year old person does w/ his/her life anyway, but that is beside the point). No one is pulling (or pushing) for me to get a degree so, who would i be trying to impress? I have answers to none of these which reaffirms the decision to not go to college.

end

bought a couple pop-a-lops from BP & a couple packs of smokes & i am good to go for the evening. and as far as this evening is concerned, i will spend it with the sliding glass door open & the breeze coming through as the Saturday night cars pass by. i feel v good.

anyway, be back in a bit!

Easter tomorrow

as for today, i got the 64GB flash drive and i plan on saving all of my Flickr photos onto it as well at text documents but it is going to be an on-going process.

i also am expecting my iPhone Tuesday but since it is FedEx, probably more like Monday. This is a very good thing. As far as the von Clausewitz book “On War”, i think that is arriving tomorrow. 500+ pages. Whew!

Monday will be busy. I have Lesson 5 (and 6) to do + three appts to make. Gonna be a pain in the ass. But i am going to get through it.

And tonight, i am going to walk to BP & get a couple more packs of smokes & probably a Monster Energy drink.

Nice weather

be back in a bit!

i am hoping the stuff i ordered from Amazon ships this AM. i put expedited shipping on everything (the book, flash drive, iPhone 6), so, i hope they will come before the expected delivery date, possibly as soon as Monday. (or Sunday!)

Anyway, i have the USPS mail app on my phone & i can see when packages are being delivered and roughly what time they get here, so that is p cool.

i can't wait to get back with iOS. the best OS out there, imo. also, it is like a shrunken-down iPad Air & i friggin' loved my iPad Air 2.

Also, i was looking at Google Home videos on YT & i was just thinking about how god awful dumb they are. i mean it is like having a friggin' wiretap in your home. everyone who reads this blog knows how i feel about Google having a monopoly on data (& Facebook as well. already left them in the dust) and i don't like how much Google (probably) already knows about me. i just don't see why they need to retain this information (or anyone for that matter!). Fuck Google. i am not going to use them at all when i get the iPhone.

Siri sucks, too, but that's good. Won't use it, either.

Twitter probably knows more about me than is necessary (67k+ Tweets!), but idk what they would even do with that information and we already saw (or, are seeing) how bad data leaks turn out for companies like Facebook, so i hope they don't get compromised or some shit. i really think it is just what you put out into the Twitterverse is what they know and that is PUBLIC (as where Google searches are “private” & people are more “revealing”).

Anyway, i am not the biggest fan of tech (or i should say, the Internet) to begin with. That is why i am taking all of my family pictures down from Flickr and putting them onto this handy-dandy flash drive i ordered and closing down my Flickr (and all of Yahoo, as well). Tumblr is owned by Yahoo, so i should probably shut that down, too. Find a different splash page platform. idk.

Speaking of which: why DID i rejoin Insta the other day (yesterday, i think)? I have no interest in uploading anymore photos to the internet, so why be on Insta??? At all??? They are owned by Facebook, a company i loathe more than Uber and that is saying a lot. So, bu-bye Insta. Closing that right now.

I should also mention (as i have before, worth repeating) that i left spotify. I deleted my acct as well as deleted all of my playlists and i am never going back (due to their close relationship w/ Facebook).

Anyway, be back in a bit

Why iPhone?

Well, it must of have been th gd shiny Apple logo! Right? No. It is because every infosec person out there is saying the same thing, over and over again: iOS is the most secure OS of *ANY OS out there right now. Even more than Chrome OS (imo) because iOS will guard you from Google should you choose to do so (which i WILL!). Also, the whole famn uses iPhone and they want me to be able to FaceTime them. Also, there is a better selection of apps. More so than BlackBerry which was my other choice. WAY more apps! And, the “Walled Garden” is not so bad now that i have a standard/stand-alone PC to work with on a daily basis (Pi). Finally, it has a fingerprint sensor (TouchID) as well. So i can finally have that piece of mind!

Everything about iPhone is good. Some people say “you don't trust Google or Windows, but you trust Apple?!” Yes. Yes i do. Ever since all this stuff came out about the Android API thing & Facebook (i hate FB regardless, but this backs up my arguments even more so), it really has me thinking about how INsecure all of Google's products really are. And yea, if a Chromebook goes out-of-date, expect malware. It happened to me on the Samsung Chromebook Series 5. Apple is damn near the only company (average consumers) CAN trust. There are co's like CopperheadOS & stuff like that that will promise security, but they are constantly struggling and even they will admit that there are security gaps when you don't use the phone “the right way”. Walled Garden is the safest imo.

So that's that. I will continue to DeGoogle myself as time goes on and this new iPhone (6 btw) is going to make that process a lot easier. This Moto X (with a horrible battery) will go back to the bro-in-law.

end

starting my day off right. making some bold, Bold, BOLD coffee as i feel the cool (but not cold) breeze come in from the sliding glass door & getting ready to meet up w/ the fam in a bit. visiting the dad in the hospital (where he is now in OT/PT, upgrade!).

I still have some of Lesson 5 to finish up & then Lesson 6 tomorrow. Will finish those no problem.

anyway, onto coffee!

i feel like shit tonight

i have no nicotine whatsoever, i (foolishly) rejoined Twitter out of boredom (which is how that usually works), i slept all day so i will probably be up all tonight (even though i had a super-productive morning), &...yeah. just jonesing af right now.

i am making (very bold) coffee again in an attempt to kill some time, but tonight is rainy, chilly, shitty, and nasty. shit STLWX.

be back in a bit

Started Lesson 5 of the e-course. Can't concentrate right now bc my neighbor is banging his music, so.... i will study later.
