NinjaTrader platform issues

G7.) How do I get my charts to load faster?

a.) Recommended: See C8 to check how your computer measures up (most likely need something stronger)

b.) Alternatively, (until you get a better computer), after loading a template, right-click→indicators, remove _APEX ICE Volume Zones. Save as new template with a name that includes something like “No ICE”. Load that one in the future.

G11.) Connecting to IQFeed causes NinjaTrader to freeze

You might have a port conflict. This is a known behavior if you have any other program using port 9100. Do you know of any other program running on your computer that uses port 9100?

A known example of this is Logitech G Hub. Uninstalling or disabling the conflicting app should resolve this issue. Another option is to use Kinetick as the data provider, which doesn’t require use of the port.

G15.) Price keeps moving outside of my chart window! How do I keep it fixed on the chart?

Click the “F” in the top right of the chart. For details on this see the section “Fixed vs. Automatic Scaling,” as well as the others for further aspects of chart navigation/manipulation, here. Videos:     –Scaling and Scrolling NinjaTrader 8 Charts     –Scroll Zoom & Navigate Charts

G18.) How do I remove pending orange flag “phantom orders” from my chart?

—These indicate orders that experienced some kind of error. They are usually seen in sim accounts when an order gets stuck in simulation due to race conditions. They can also be seen for live accounts when there is a hiccup in communication on order execution between servers. These can often be cleared by simply restarting NinjaTrader. If stuck orders remain on a sim account after restarting, they can be cleared by resetting that account. (See: G17)

G21.) NT errors

G21a.) “Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name:index”     —This usually indicates a problem during data load. Close NT, use the Apex Desktop Assistant to clear historical data, and relaunch NT.
