the wrath of (a Biblical) God

I'm reading a book, titled “Uncle Tom's Cabin”, published in the year 1852, or earlier.

The author, Harriet Beecher Stowe – through the mouth of a character named Augustine St Clare – already said, 170 years before Covid, that God is going to bring about a Day of Wrath (or “dies irae”, in Latin language), in the light of how the higher classes of society shamelessly oppress the lower classes of society.

St Clare notes that such oppression happens in America, England, and all over the world.

But, of course, even with Covid in the 2020s – and now, worldwide inflation (as in the economy) – people still remain stubbornly unrepentant.
