POTUS Can't Be Trusted with Our Money
Hello, I hope you are well and enjoyed the Protests.
You may be wondering why neither party is willing to end the government shut down. While one party insists that the government must be re-opened before they will negotiate on the question of how much, if any, support will be provided to those who are dependent on it to afford medical insurance for 2026. People need assistance in order to afford the huge increases in government health insurance.
The other party wants really two things. First, they want adequate help for people who get their insurance through the government, such as Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP or the Affordable Care Act. Second, and most important, they also want a guarantee that POTUS won't be able to redirect the funds to his programs and away from the subsidies people need. There is very little chance that any agreed on funding won't be misused by POTUS. He does not believe that Article I of the US Constitution, which gave Congress the power to decide what to fund, needs to be followed but can be ignored with impunity.
POTUS directed that fund appropriated for certain specific purposes be, at his direction, be used to pay the troops instead. He does not care what Congress does as long as fund are authorized for any purpose. He feels he can take the funds and use them any way he wants.
No political party can allow uncontrolled use of funds which Congress has directed to specific programs. So, both parties know that even if they agree on subsidies for health care, they cannot trust POTUS to use them for the purposes Congress wants. He has not shown any regard for the Constitution.
As Congress works through the difficulties, please stay safe and say “Hi” to your neighbors. They are probably just as scared as you. Please tell your friends about these posts. They may like them as well.
