December 31st

Breathe in, breathe out. Just like she taught you.

He was flustered, for the reason he couldn't say why. Either he was too happy, or scared to have disappointed the girl. Though if she were too, he wouldn't know so right away. But will eventually know, though the gut still had other sayings.

It has been a month since the two had been together, but never a day exists without a smile carved on any's faces. He loves her truly, and so does she.

“Hey, anything bothering your mind?” the girl called him out as she had seen him gazing to the abyss, which left him startled. The two were in deep silence, before she finally let out a word. Though it was only the them that it seems like conversations doesn't mean much.

“A- No, nothing. Isn't it fun? To be counting the minutes before New Years?” he replied. At that moment too, his heart thumps and mindfully speaking he just wants to die right then and there because of the feeling.

With a sigh, she crossed her arms and leans closer towards him. “Minutes then turn into seconds and there you have it. The clock strikes twelve! But to answer your question, I've no idea. I can't seem to explain how I feel about the New Year. But it's indeed fun just being here with you.”

“Get up, I know a place to go.” He held her hand tightly, interlocking the fingers, from laying down to standing up. The girl stayed silent and followed his lead, for she knows what type of person he is. The one to go all sudden about everything.

11:55PM

They were running, further away from the crowds and high above grounds. He had taken her somewhere, where the tall buildings could been seen clearly. As they were taking fast steps, his eyes glances to his watch to see if they had still got the time to make it in time. 'Darn, five minutes left,' he mumbled. It's a ride or die event and if they were to be late, he could only do it in precise the next year.

Few laps after, finally arriving to the place mentioned and the first thing he did was to place his head on her shoulders. They were both short of breath, yet he felt the need to do so. She had the comfort in her that the boy desire truly, as it felt warm just to lay there.

Do you know where it is-your comfort?

The stars were absent, but the city lights were flickering beautifully. The night was strangely silent, perhaps it's because everyone's waiting for the same thing. To see the fireworks.

He knows well she isn't familiar with fireworks, therefore the reason he had brought her to a another place in which the noise wouldn't get too loud. It's an agenda where everyone will be blasting and lighting up the sky, he couldn't imagine how it'd be if she just stood with one right beside her.

“You're heavy, didn't you know that?” she let out a word, only for him to let out a chuckle as he could hear her heart beating faster than anything. It was either because of that running or his presence that made her this way. She was cute, that's what he thought.

“Let me be. Let's just stay this way for awhile.” he replied, lifting his arm up to see his watch. “2 minutes,”

“Surprisingly fast. Also, I've also found out what I'm gonna do next year.” her sudden response had him stood firmly as he stare at her eyes with his eyebrows raising and full of answers. She knew well what she had say shocked him.

“Hm?”

“To confess to the person I love.”

“But we're already dating.”

“I know- Ah!”

The fireworks came, indicating the clock had strike to the long awaited time.

His first instinct was to embrace her into a tight hug and there she was, hiding her face in his chest. The noise wasn't big, but it surely had left the girl startled. Colors of red and blue representing the planet of Saturn were seen from a distance. Fireworks spread around filling the night sky, glowing even brighter than the stars.

Alive. The New Year, new beginning, and he was grateful to had spend the night with her.

“Happy New Year, love.”
