Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar’s Directions to Start The processing Of New Hostels for Scheduled Tribes Children in Pombhurna and Savali

The Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar has directed that the task of processing the opening of new hostels for children belonging to the Scheduled tribes in Pombhurna and Savali in Chandrapur district, be completed at the earliest possible. Meanwhile, the Tribal Development Minister Prof Ashok Ruike has informed that for hostel set-up, rental buildings are being utilized and necessary furniture is being shifted there, once this process gets completed, hostels will be made available to the tribal community students on an immediate basis.

On 9th July, a meeting was organised in the Ministry regarding the demand to start tribal community student’s new hostels at Pombhurna and Savali. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Minister for Tribal Development Prof Ashok Ruike, Tribal Development Commissioner Shri Nitin Patil, Deputy Secretary, Tribal Development Department Shri. Subbarao Shinde, and other officials of the Public Works Department and Tribal Development Department.

Meanwhile, the decision to start new hostels for children belonging to the scheduled tribes at Pombhurna and Savali has been approved by the Government on 8th March 2019. Accordingly, 20 new positions have been approved for handling 4 new hostels. Also, rental buildings are being utilized for this project, since space is not available in Government buildings and campuses. Furniture and necessary materials have been handed over for the new hostels and a collective appeal has been placed before the students belonging to the Scheduled Tribes to take admission in this hostel through a newspaper ad dated 4th July 2019.

For a new hostel construction project, the Tahsil office at Pombhurna has informed that land is available at Chekhattibodi. Once the land inspection is completed, further formalities to finalise this land for the said hostel project shall begin. The Department has also informed that attempts are being made to search land in the vicinity of Savali city, but the Department is proposing to purchase a private land if satisfactory land options are not available.
