A Food Story

Today is August 1, 2020. It marks six years since becoming vegetarian. It was August 1, 2014 that I started (officially) eating vegetarian, and I haven't looked back since.

But it took time to get to there. August 1, 2012 is when I decided to go vegetarian for a month. Just to see if I could do it. I did, was very proud of myself. From that point forward, I only ate meat once or twice a month – and if I did, it made me very sick. So when August 1, 2014 rolled around, I figured I would go vegetarian for a month again.

I made it that month, and I remember sitting on the matress in my bedroom when the clocked ticked over from August 31, 2014 at midnight to September 1, and thought; “why run back to meat? I can just keep this up!”. And I have. And I will continue to do so.

I almost let the day slip by without thinking about it. I knew the day was approaching, but I guess I had other things on my mind. Makes me feel good, though, to not consume meat. I am vegetarian, though, and not vegan. I eat eggs sometimes. And also cheese on occassion. That's how it is for now.

But yea, feels good :)
