Why is it better to have a CPA do your taxes instead of a program like turbo tax? Well, let's start by talking about why it is not a good idea. One- tax software lets you do it yourself. Two-....there is no number two....that was the only good point! A CPA is a person, someone who can talk with you, who can converse with you- someone who can answer your questions even if they are not previously formatted on a neat Q&A page.
A CPA is someone you can get to know, and trust, who also has many options through their work that can get you access to records that a mere program or friends of friends can not access. This is someone who will work on your time, with you, and find ways to explain things to you that do not seem, well, mechanical.
When you need something done right, would you rather trust a program that “even a dummy could do”, or would you rather go to someone, even if it means paying a little extra, to get the job done right, because it is this person's specialization and you know you will not be making the mistakes because you yourself are inexperienced with the data?
This way, you do not waste your time getting a headache over which numbers go where, or stressing over if you did it right or not. You can rest assured knowing that your taxes are in good hands, and being done right, while you can choose to there or not, giving you more options and assurance than a program in a box ever could.
