The birds are back in town!

It's that time of year again. The beech tree outside the window has young leaves on it and the birds of lockdown are returning to it. So far I've seen a Pica pica (magpie), a blue tit, and three collared doves (perhaps last year's hatchling alongside the previous pair?).

The days are longer, inviting us to go outside... but not today which is gloriously wet and Welsh! Cloud, rain, wind, merrily making the world green while we hide indoors.

Speaking of the weather (well I AM British!), another fun feature of this time of year is the ambiguity of 10oC (50oF). What does it mean?! Some days when the sun is out it means a light fleece/overshirt/jacket while on others you have to bundle up in all the layers.

Still, the weather should be brighter tomorrow. If babe is well enough to go to nursery (another viral infection, busily building up that immune system!) I'll finally get out for a run. Returning to the birds, their chirps, calls and songs certainly entrance my little one – she may well think the trees and bushes are responsible though as the birds often do a good job of hiding in the foliage!

Meanwhile lockdown rules are easing in Wales as COVID-19 cases fall to their lowest in 8 months, with extended households/social bubbles allowed again, gyms, swimming pools and community centres re-opening. Reasons to be upbeat, although I'm cogniscent that the story is very different in other parts of the world.

Tweet! chirp! sing the birds Joyous sounds of life returned Lockdown easing too
