so, this is how sex work twitter works, as far as i can tell.

join sex work twitter. follow all irl sex work friends, porn studios you like, agencies you've worked with or heard of, etc. maybe add in some other recommended follows, maybe some famous sex workery or sex work people, or other providers nearby.

start posting. maybe you've decided on a 'brand' already, or maybe you're free styling. you'll quickly come into questions that seem to have long-term implications. do you post about negative client experiences to vent or provide client education, or do you keep it positive? do you include any discussion of politics, especially politics around sex work? and, very importantly, face out or not?

for the most part, talking about family, especially partners and kids, is off-limits.

mostly try to keep it flirty, but not cliched. ultimately, the window of what's interesting to your clientele and what's interesting about you as a person is not always much of an overlap. ideally, yes, but maybe pick a few safe topics, like your pet or your travels or the restaurants you go to. or don't. share everything. or nothing. sooner or later, a voice will develop.

advertise, but not too much.

keep photos posted recent, but if you post too many from the same photo set people will be able to tell and it won't feel fresh. get really good at taking selfies. learn about what hashtags other are using.

when fun things are happening in your life, a voice will start to play in the background- how can i tweet about this? don't forget to take a picture, if you think you look hot enough (you assuredly do).

now, the algorithm. the algorithm will become your constant nemesis. technically you can post anything on twitter, but the algorithm will disfavor you from the start. being banned and shadowbanned, unceremoniously dumped are all risks.

so, you become an expert on the algorithm. you ask your followers questions to drive engagement. you retweet for retweet. you reply to others' posts when a rumor spreads that replies matter more than retweeting, hoping to get the karma returned.

unexpected tweets will be hits, and other expected hits will bomb. you will mostly be talking with other sex workers, mostly with an air of performance. many, many men will try to jump in and dm you and waste your time entirely. but, as you're encouraging or supporting other sex workers and following each other, drip by drip, the clients start to follow you.

they have handles that were clearly provided to them by twitter with their name and a string of numbers. often no avatar at all, no followers, sometimes no tweets even, although sometimes instead they're constantly re-tweeting porn clips. they're paying attention, you think, you hope. they're thinking about it, discerning. you are really trying to keep their attention, and make abundantly clear that you are worth them parting with their money.
