Just the right time for Coil to make new steps

Dear Coilers, I’ve run a poll on Twitter 3 days ago about Coil, asking people about their subscription on the platform.

The question was:

Are you a Coil subscriber?

After I’ve tweeted the poll, I’ve tagged a few Coilers asking to RT as well as posted it in a group gathered around Down With OTC crypto channel run by Stephen and Jeff. The channel is mostly about XRP but the members are not Coilers (some are thou).

In the end, 326 people participated (I’ve counted on maybe 100-150 max), most of whom are connected to the XRP Community on Twitter. And the results are... interesting...

Or, in numbers:

98 People are subscribers

32 People were subscribed but have cancelled membership

64 People plan to join, which is a good sign

131 People are not interested in joining the platform.

(1 vote would probably go either to those 10/20% options)

Two comments were interesting. One coming from the person who says in his bio that he is a XRP investor.

The other comes from a person who obviously knows the platform and one of the problems...

Conclusions and thoughts

We can see that 25% of the participants in poll who were Coil subscribers have cancelled the subscription. I cannot say if the percentage is high or not, but I’d definitely like it to be much lower in future.

There can be many reasons for that. One is that they haven’t seen the value they’ve been getting for their $5 a month. Another reason could be the fact that many from the XRP Community joined Coil in the very beginnings to support the “new use case” for their beloved asset but as the price of XRP kept dumping they’ve given up due to disappointment. Some left in anger due to not earning enough through the micropayments/boosts as creators on the platform.

Those 20% of the participants who plan to subscribe in future are good sign. But they need to get that “final reason” to make the decision.

Those 40% are the problem which asks to be changed. As we can see, some people don’t even know what Coil is. Even people from the XRP Community never heard of Coil?!

Coil was relatively well introduced back in the days of its beginnings. It got a lot of space on Twitter and in blogs of prominent XRP Community influencers, but for almost a year there was not a single marketing move from Coil itself on social networks.

There are 4P in marketing mix: product, price, place, and promotion!

Product is good, getting better and constantly developing.

Price of $5 a month is very low and affordable to the most of people from the target market.

Place is Internet, what else to say about it?! Availability of the product is present throughout the whole world!

Promotion... ProWhat? I have to say that CinnamonVideo platform is doing a great job there. As it is connected to Coil tech it helps at least a bit to the promotion P.

There are some winds blowing, the hint we got was that Coil is preparing *affiliate program*.

How it will work we are about to see. In whichever way it would be organized and awarded, there will be a chaos on the XRP Community members’ walls on social networks.

I would definitely like to see more tweets from Coil with links to the explanation of what the platform really is. To make it be understood by non tech people, both the future consumers and creators.

I know there is a bright future for Coil. We, the Coilers, want it sooner than later thou.

One more thing, I remember the situation from many years ago. My brother in law who is George Washington College alumni told me he joined some new site on the Internet which connects people by the institutions they’ve studied at and those things. He was thrilled to be contacted by and connected with some of the dear people he shared his student days with. What a brilliant thing it was... he was able to be connected with the world...

Me: What is the address of that miracle?

Him: Facebook.com

Me: Never heard of it!

Thank you for reading,
