Living through the Trans Scare
It seems like the worst time for trans people to be alive. Florida is currently moving forward with legislation to ban youth transgender healthcare. Other states are following or limiting basic rights for trans people altogether. Children are under threat of being taken away from their parents simply for being trans. On the other side of the ocean, in Asia, Japan requires sterilization to undergo sex reassignment surgery, and trans people are regularly discriminated against in countries like China. In Europe, Spain's “most progressive government ever” keeps paralyzing our gender identity law, leaving immigrants and nonbinary people out of it, and Hungary collectively derecognized gender identity.
