Scorn has been in development for about 5 years, or so I'm told. that's a long time for a short indie title to be in development, and it almost certainly built up its fair share of hype over the years and trailers. unfortunately teasing and showing it that early seems to have played a part in its downfall as it launched with a less than pleasing “Mixed” review score on Steam. Let's find out why.

Or: how morbid curiosity killed the me.

You'd imagine that a lightgun game wherein you shoot “Ecstasy Shots” at high school girls to overwhelm them with “euphoria” would be high up on the list of creepy taboo R18+ hentai games or something but as it turns out, for the most part, Gal*Gun Double Peace is only one or two steps above the Carry On franchise for its bawdiness. I've always been averse to going near this franchise as you'd well imagine; on the face of it the entire concept makes one uncomfortable from the get go with rash, but admittedly fair assumptions. So let's take a look at what I've learned of the game from playing through it for a bit.

Look, I get it, sometimes you just remember an old TV show you used to really enjoy. You decide, perhaps, to look up some clips of it on YouTube and have a good ol’ giggle at them. And sometimes you make the grave error of deciding to revisit that show, including watching that one series that happened after you dropped off of watching it. As someone who went through that entire process this month with 2000s “classic” The Mighty Boosh, I’m here to tell you: No! No!! Don’t do that!!!

As an act of self-care, I replayed through Cosmo D's narrative title “The Norwood Suite”. It's a fascinating tale of an auteur composition with a mysterious background and of the ever growing creep of capitalism erasing history. I highly recommend it, played with no distractions; lights off, headphones on. Here is what I captured of its world before I got wrapped up within it.

So, I'm sure you're at least vaguely aware of the existence of New Age music CDs. You know the ones. They live on those weird wooden stands in spirituality & gift shops and largely consist of nature or dolphin sounds. Whilst I don't subscribe to anything that the New Age scene sells myself, you might be interested to know that their CD output is a bit more than just nature sounds.
