You Glide
Glissando
sliding along
these edges
Squint your
eyes to notice
the places in
the poem
where the liminal
converge,
the pockets where
your words glide
into mine
to become ours

Wonder
rises;
another day,
surprises
us, beckons
us, calls
for words;
for, in this,
we trust
the day
to fall
our way
together
again

Will You Knit Our Thoughts Together?
We knit these strands
to understand
the knots of words
inside these lines
of angled thoughts
and beautiful flight
and juxtaposed designs

This
will be
what this
will be -
what this
is – this
will be -
when poets
surface,
it will be
this

Dream skies
crowd our
heads with
poems
migrating stories
waiting for their
moment;
The dark starts
with a bird,
a creature
circling currents
of continental winds

Mirrored Refraction
The way our words bend
the light, the way we write
deep night, where something
of our song still sings
inside of us — these roots
burrow down

And so we wander
into a brighter light,
following a guitar line
and musical thought
from verse to voice
to chorus to bridge
to somewhere, beyond

Leaves
left dormant
for the long cold season
the soil beneath
softens to touch, warm
for a reason:
While snow and sleet
and cold have come,
this blanket
has done its sleeping,
and change has begun

There's no way
I can POET, friend,
in a room full of kids
knee-deep in the books,
I need to stay 'til the end
'til every one of them looks
ready to write a story or poem
then I might find a diversion
on the long journey home,
and join you on POET's Day,
so you won't be alone

Haiku Reverse
Walking backwards always fails
to erase the poem
I nearly forgot to write
