The true power of an elite society is poverty. In extreme cases (and I'm talking about the Russian Federation now) the masses have no other means to earn decent money than going to war for the elites. And when I'm saying “decent”, I mean roughly $3,500 per month.
Yes, you read this correctly. Hundreds of thousands of people in a terribly stratified society are happy to risk their lives in a war for a salary that is not considered good enough for an office job in most of the developed world.
The elites that keep all the income flow under their control are invincible to any internal resistance because of that fact.
Ask yourself: how much your government should offer you that you go to war happily?
Many kids out there are under-loved. Is it because their parents don't love them? No, I don't think so. I think they are consciously or unconsciously irritated by the very need of paying a lot of attention to their children. And attention is time, and time is — of course — money.
So, they don't have enough money to invest in the children, and children most of the time do not offer a quick ROI.
It's a bad investment tactic.
