In this MG.Social State of the Network update, MateoXRP discusses new logos for the site, the forthcoming Xumm based tipping system, support from the Coil community and the sustainability of the site moving forward.

Hello fellow Coil subscribers! This is MateoXRP with MG.Social. It's been a little over 10 weeks since this project was officially announced to the public. Since then much progress has been made on the site. We have had close to 50 Coil subscribers sign-up so far. I would like to extend my deepest thanks to everyone who has created an account on the site and contributed their content.

For those that are not aware; MG.Social is a new web monetized social network for Coil subscribers that allows users to monetize postings they make on the site and accept XRP tips. For more information on MG.Social refer to our about page here.

For Coil subscribers that have not yet signed up, we would love to have you come check out MG.Social. For those of you who have previously signed up but not logged in for a while, we would like to highlight some of the new features we have implemented and some features we have that you might not be aware of. We would love to have you return to the site!

1. Upgraded hosting – we have recently migrated to a more robust hosting provider that has greatly enhanced the speed and performance of the site. With this new hosting we should be able to more easily scale the site as needed in the future.
2. Coil logins – one of the early weaknesses of the site was that users were only able login using a web browser that either had the Coil browser extension installed or had web monetization built in (such as Puma Browser). Now that we have implemented Coil oauth logins the site can be accessed from any web browser including mobile browsers like Safari on iOS or Chrome on Android.
3. Directly upload and monetize video and audio files – In additon to posting text and image files, MG.Social users can directly upload and monetize their videos and mp3 files on the site.
4. Embed and monetize content posted to external sources – In addition to direct video and audio uploads, MG.Social users can embed and monetize their content that already exists on external websites into postings on the site. This includes YouTube, Cinnamon.Video, SoundCloud, TikTok, BitChute and others.
5. Receive XRP tips for your postings – MG.Social users can add their XRPtipBot account address to receive XRP tips on their postings through either XRPtipBot or Xumm.
6. Post your Coil blogs – Many MG.Social users like to post links to their Coil community blogs. This allows users to comment and receive feedback on their Coil blog postings.
7. Direct messaging – MG.Social users have the ability to send direct messages to each other on the site.
8. Create and join groups – MG.Social users have the ability to create and join groups to interact with like minded users who share their same interests.
9. Create business and event pages – MG.Social users have the ability to create pages to promote their businesses and upcoming events to other users on the site
10. Run polls – MG.Social users have the ability to create and post polls to get feedback from other users on the site.

In addition to the features we already have enabled we are also currently working on adding the following new capabilities:

1. Full Xumm support for tips – we are currently in the process of overhauling our tipping system from being based on XRPtipBot to one based on Xumm. With this change we are looking to add counters on postings to track tips received, notifications to let you know when you have been tipped, by whom and the ammount, and a counter on your profile to track the total amount of tips you have sent and received on the site.
2. The ability for users to switch between a light and dark mode.

Update: Xumm tipping is now live on MG.Social. When you add your Xumm account number to your MG.Social account settings your postings will then have an option to tip. Each posting will have a counter to track the amount of XRP it has received. Eventually we will add a counter to your profile so you can see the total amount of XRP you have been tipped.

Everybody loves challenges! I guess it's time to do our first MG.Social challenge: there are many features on the site, some of which have been discussed on the site update videos or in Coil postings, that have not been widely used yet. The MG.Social user to have the most creative use of an underused site feature by this Friday 5pm pacific will get a 150 XRP tip!

In this video I discus an Uphold tip pointed out to me on Twitter by consistentbenny (https://twitter.com/consistentbenny). You can create multiple XRP cards in uphold each with a unique payment pointer attached to it. You can then use each generated payment pointer on a different site to differentiate which site the web monetization payment originated from.
