Diet Pepsi is Bae

it just is. I walked to BP and got one a minute ago and BS'd w/ the clerk for a few minutes because Runesh is awesome. Everyone who works up there is awesome but he is there the most/is the most talkative.

It's a beautiful day, too.

I just mentioned over on mastodon.social that I am giving myself until Sunday (today is Thursday) to finish the Scratch 2 program/animation-thing. I am going to have a blast doing it.

Tomorrow, I have therapy and will probs do laundry at the 'rents as well. Good schtuff.

that's about all for now

Getting Google

But should I?

I did all the security measures to get my Google acct back and they are going to contact me within 3-5 days, in which case I will reactivate the acct, but I am pretty sure I won't need the acct for anything. Would simply be nice to have a couple things on backup (Drive) if I wanted them. I am going to get down with DropBox I think.

::downloading DropBox now::

Hello, world

this was not written in code, but I am going to be (sorta) writing in code later. I am going to be using Scratch 2 to make a little animation of sprites doing funny things.

I finished the #CS50x Week 0 lecture and all went well and now I am moving onto the first problem set. But it is also worth nothing....

...that I finally made myself an Admin on the Mac! After Google numerous times how to do this, I found I could do it by going into the terminal on the Disk Utility screen (sort of like BIOS?) and typing “resetpassword”. So that's p legit. I was then able to install Adobe Flash + Adobe AIR which are both necessary for CS50x and in particular Scratch 2. But this means I can install other things on here such as the MacOS High Sierra update (if I choose), and just about anything that is not in the App Store.

So, with that said, I am going to import everything from the other Mac acct (the “tm” acct) into Admin and make this fucker my main acct. Scratch 2 project will come soon.

All is good.

Week 0 Lecture: DONE!

'Twas 1 hr 10 minutes to get through it but I understood everything the prof was talking about + took diligent notes, so, all is good. The problem set in Section 1 (or the first problem set) is gonna be writing a little program in Scratch. So that's be cool.

Gonna d/l the notes now.

Google Account: DELETED

Took about 1.5 minutes

I have been using alternatives to Google for a v long time (ProtonMail, NewPipe, DuckDuckGo, Safari, etc.) and I am 100% happy w/ this decision.

Also, if you use the Internet; it is basically impossible to avoid the mega-corps. They are everywhere and all you can do is make the best decisions you can make by using FOSS (Free Open-Source Software) and de-centralized social networks, and to just be as conscious as possible to remain #private, #safe, and #secure on the WWW. It takes an effort.

Listening to The Pretty Reckless

Fun music. This is from iTunes and I d/l'd this song half a decade ago.

I cannot tell you how much better I feel from this time last night. I had no nicotine at this hour and I was climbing the fucking walls w/ cravings. Now I have a near-full pack of Edgefield non-filters and am feeling v good ;)

I can't believe the nazis won on twitter. anyone who continues to use that site is a nazi in my eyes. People are so fucking sheepish about calling other people out and calling people who are nazis...nazis. I'm pretty blunt and direct, so I call em like I see em, and I see the majority of the fuckers on twitter as scum nazis.

Either that or people who just mindlessly use the network like they do FB, Instagram, etc. and just do it because they feel everyone around them are doing the same thing when really everyone around them is struggling with a way to figure out how to tell the others that they want to leave social media altogether.

Why do people think they are special?

People think that the data collection, the government spying, the “people of interest” profiles built on innocent civilians always apply to the other guy, but not them. If there is anything I learned from #security people on the Internet is that the people who think they are not targets are usually the first to be targeted. Why? Cause they're convinced they are not targets and do not take precaution w/ their online profiles.

On that note: I am probably closing my Google acct soon.

The Voicelessness of Social Media

and thinking about how social media removes your voice. How when you blast your opinions, thoughts, (& prayers), photos, ideas, concepts, and contradictions into the “void” that is social media; it removes the responsibility of that person from voicing their option (etc.) in the real world.

We have to have a voice. We have to let the U.S. government know that it is NOT ok to have a white supremacist guilty of treason to be sitting at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. We have to speak up against gun violence, climate change, ICE abuses, the Muslim ban, racism, mass data collection, the Puerto Rican power outages, the fracking boom, the Flint water crisis, election tampering, lobbyist corruption, tax preferences, college debt, sexism, and gay-bashing.

Stop Tweeting. Stop posting exif-data filled photos all over Instagram. Stop selling your most personal moments with Facebook in exchange for “Likes”. Stop the dopamine addiction and be human again. ffs!

This Is How Social Media Ends

You see, it was broke from the beginning. It was designed around addiction and privacy violation. No one wants to be addicted to stuff. And no one wants to have their privacy violated. And no one wants their privacy violated because of their problem with addiction. It's a kick when you're already down. Facebook decided to steal everyone's data and use it for their own misuses. Twitter stole data and used it for their own misuses. So does Insta (which is part of FB), Snapchat, Pinterest, dating sites, and everything else out there that could be considered a “social network”.

I just deleted my final social media acct on Twitter (the others I left long ago) because their CEO (@)jack decided that it was ok to side with nazis and white supremacists, and propaganda-spreading liars.

I do have a mastodon.social acct, but I seriously doubt I am ever going to really use it. I am not saying socializing, itself, is bad on the WWW, but when the platform is centralized, and ad-based, or subscription-based, or has nefarious CEO's: it is definitely time to socialize somewhere else on the (Very big) Internet.

things to do besides twitter:

well, an unlimited amount of things when you think about it. But just as I am ramping up my #productivity in my life and getting things back on-track, I think of the conversation I just had about an hour ago w/ the moms about how she used to get “Sooooo much done” but doesn't anymore because all she does when she has a few minutes of free time is play Words With Friends and look at stupid shit on Facebook.

Anyway, I just called (@)jack (The Twitter CEO) a nazi in a very direct way and I really do hope that cocksucker bans my acct permanently. I have a life outside of twitter and I spend way-the-fuck too much time on that social network to begin with. He is allowing Alex Jones to spew his fucking hatred on his platform just like how he verifies Richard B Spencer (the world's leading white supremacist) and allows Trump to have a direct platform for his bullshit, traitor propaganda.

Fuck Twitter. Seriously.

New New New

New background on oleary.io

New blurb on oleary.io (or, an added one)

New pack of smokes freshly opened (haha)

and I am going to settle in for the night when the sun sets and continue on the Week 0 lecture on #CS50x. Fun course.

I finished all the things I had set up in my bullet journal and checked them off/crossed them off. The only two things that didn't happen was: I didn't sell the Tab A (guy didn't follow-through), and I didn't do the lecture coursework, YET! (starting in a little bit here).

The goal for the night (as noted in the bullet journal) is to get through h rest of the 50 minutes of the lecture and take diligent notes.

Dad is home and doing well and resting. There is a big event happening at the 'rents tomorrow that I will be there for but that is not happening until the evening.

I also made a huge Twitter list titled “the champions” of all thegood-hearted folks that I enjoy most on the social network and then am following a bunch of people on the main TL (just because).

Be back in a bit!
