Roscoe's Quick Notes

my micro-blog

As I sip the morning's 2nd cup of coffee, it becomes clear that today in the Roscoe-verse is going to be relaxed and slow-moving. Which is fine. To the temptations to get actively involved in developing situations where I have historically played a part, let me just say: Umm... no. I'll just sit quietly and watch. For now. Thank you.

Just heard Roger Staubach in a live radio interview talking about this afternoon's Army/Navy game. It was great to hear him. It was especially great to hear him sounding so “young”. His voice was strong and his mind was quick. And he's older than I am. Put a smile on my face.

Yesterday I received a call from my doctor's office. “Mr Ellis, the doctor won't be seeing any patients in the office tomorrow. Would you be willing to make your appointment a tele-health call, or do you want to reschedule it for later?” With a big smile I said that a tele-health call will be just fine.

So I sit here with my morning coffee and a cinnamon roll, expecting a call from my doctor's PA (she's the nice lady who did my tele-health call last Spring) in about an hour or so, and enjoying a much easier start to this Thursday than I had anticipated.

I'm very happy to have completed all my necessary Internet work by mid-morning. The road crew is back now with a fleet of big trucks and I expect their work to resume shortly. So... whatever.

Weather is too nice to avoid yard work, so I've been out front raking leaves. Back inside now watching football and eating crumb cake fresh out of the oven.

For those keeping score, my Internet is alive this morning and for that I'm thankful. College football throughout the day and Svengoolie tonight all come to me via OTA TV, so I won't be needing the Internet for my entertainment. As long as it keeps working long enough for me to send moves in all my Correspondence Chess games, that's all I really want from it today.

Today's Internet outage was ~7 hrs. long. Yesterday's was over 3 hrs. long, and the day before our Internet was down for 2 ½ hrs. All these outages are caused by road work in front of my house that is scheduled to continue for 2 more weeks. [/sigh]

The question of the morning: for my outside work today shall I work on the front yard leaves, or shall I do more cleaning and organizing on the back porch? Hmm... Have to think about that over another cup of coffee.
