I'll count today as a recovery day, following yesterday's yard work. Looking out a back window this morning I saw what my next project is going to be, mowing the back yard. If the weather cooperates, I'll plan on doing that tomorrow.

A much better day today, than yesterday. Mowed the front yard this morning and, though it taxed me greatly, it didn't totally knock me out as it has in the past. So I'm in better physical condition now than I have been. And that is very good news.

Today has certainly been a Monday in the Roscoe-verse. I was able to accomplish my regular Monday chore, doing my weekly laundry. And I was able to accomplish one financial chore that I've been planning for the past week, opening a new account at a new bank. And I've kept up with my chess games. But so much remains to be done. Yard work, mostly. Maybe tomorrow I'll be a able to get started on that. We'll see.

I won this correspondence chess game a few minutes ago with a Rook-Knight-pawn combination checkmate. The image above shows the position of pieces at game's end. My f5 Rook, protected by my e7 Knight, delivers the fatal blow to the Black King. The King's only possible flight squares are covered by my Knight and my g3 and h3 pawns.

I'm watching a College Softball game this afternoon on the TV back in my home office. It was good to see both teams standing Pregame, facing the flag, as the National Anthem played. This quick cameraphone shot of the TV screen shows the women of the Oregon Ducks in the yellow jerseys facing the flag displayed on the extreme upper left corner of this photo. The women of the IU Hoosiers (Go Hoosiers!) in red are facing a big flag mounted on a pole not seen in this photo.

So my plans to watch an early afternoon MLB Game were scrubbed by rain in Chicago. I have two college games I hope to watch this evening, either one or the other, they're both being played at the same time. If weather in the Midwest permits I'll be watching a softball game, or a baseball game. But if they're both rained out, I'll be listening to relaxing to relaxing music and quietly reading.

It appears the new neighbors have acquired two dogs. This morning they were barking at me when I took some cans out to the recycle bin in my backyard. So I moved the bins out front, in front of the garage, to avoid dealing with those dogs. Darn. They look kind of tacky out there, imo, but it beats being hassled by those animals.

A good Monday winds down. I was able to be much more moderate today in my diet and I expect tomorrow mornings body weight reading will be seen to be moving in the right direction again. A good night's sleep tonight will help. Hope it works out that way.

This Holy Saturday has had two high points for me. The first was a video chat with my daughter and family back in Indiana. And the second was setting up a new system to help with my household budget.
