Roscoe's Quick Notes

Started my sports day by following the Butler Bulldogs vs the Creighton Bluejays in a college basketball game. Of course I was cheering for Butler, they lost, but they made a very exciting game of it.

Now I'm closing out my day following the IU Hoosiers vs the Iowa Hawkeyes in another college basketball game. Of course, I'm cheering for IU, but early in the game my guys are trailing Iowa. Hope they can pull this game out.

Friday evening and it's been another pretty good day. Finished the novel I've been working through, so I'll be able to focus more on tonight's Cotton Bowl Game than I was last night's Orange Bowl.

And Notre Dame wins the Orange Bowl! What an exciting game! Glad I stayed up past my bedtime to see it through!

Closing out a pretty good day by listening to a pretty good college basketball game, IU is leading USC 70-58 late in the 2nd half.

X is becoming my primary social network. I find myself spending more time there than at any of the other social networks where I have an active presence. And if you want to “communicate” with me online, that's where you're most likely to get a relatively timely response.

This Monday has just flown by! I accomplished all the chores I'd set for myself: doing my weekly laundry, grocery shopping, paying bills, calling some of the banks I deal with and taking care of business. But I barely had the TV or radio on at all. When I wasn't working, I was quietly reading into a novel I'm currently working through.

An extremely productive day, this Sunday. I go to bed satisfied with what I've accomplished today and knowing that the next two days will be busy, too. But everything will be in order when the wife returns home Tuesday evening. It will be so good to have her back.

Midday Saturday and the day is going well. It started with a video call from from Sylvia in the Philippines while I was eating breakfast. Breakfast time here in Texas is late at night on the other side of the world where she is. She had a good day and sent me some pictures.

My sports on TV started early with a women's college basketball game and it's continuing with an NFL double-header. The first of the two games is on now, early in the 2nd Quarter. Hands and shoulders are painful today. That's expected following yesterday's yard work. So I'm resting, limiting any physical work today. However, I was able to do some much needed organizing of paperwork back here in the home office.

High points of this Friday: 1.) A longish video call from Sylvia in the Philippines. Four more days and she'll be back home. 2.) Yard work. I spent an hour and a half raking and mowing the leaves in the front yard. Looks way better now. 3.) Some really good college football. The ServPro First Responder Bowl Game earlier today, and the Duke's Mayo Bowl being played now.

The brain is slowing down pretty much on schedule. If I can make it through tonight's IU vs Rutgers men's basketball game, scheduled to start in about 30 minutes, before falling asleep, I'll be surprised. More likely I'll be putting head to pillow at halftime. We'll just see how the rest of the evening goes.
