It seems the yard work I did yesterday took a bigger toll on my body than I realized. Shoulder pain kept me from sleeping comfortably last night. And it was so intense in the morning that I had to use the sling on my left arm for several hours just to move around and do a minimal amount of work. Both shoulders and upper arms are actually hurting, but it is the left that is the real problem. Yes, I'm seriously dosing with extra strength Tylenol today. I will reach for the Ibuprofen tonight, too.
Rather glad I have a doctor's appointment scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
Heck, I've got so many things going on right now that I'm considering using mind-mapping software to keep everything straight. Haven't needed to use that for almost 20 years, but maybe now it will help me keep things organized and reduce my stress.

Mowed the front yard this morning, a 2 hour job that really wiped me out. It's only now, 4 ½ hours after putting the mower away, that I'm feeling like myself again. Still tired, still sore, but the brain is working well again. It's working more slowly than I'd like, but at least it feels like my brain.

There are two Memorial Day services today in San Antonio at two separate cemeteries, complete with Masses and Honor Guard / Color Guard, flag raising and lowering to half staff, bugle playing taps, etc. As for me, I'm staying home, still not steady enough on my feet to responsibly participate. That fall on 07 May and my slow “recovery” may be telling me it's time to hang up my sword.

Wow! Lots of crashes in today's Indy 500. On Pit Road and out on the track.

I spent maybe an hour earlier this afternoon doing yard work, weeding the two big flower beds in front of the house. Totally wiped me out. Just that little bit of work. Of course it was hot and really humid. The clothes I was wearing were soaked with sweat. Still...

So I mowed and trimmed our small side yard, and took down a big weed-bush that had grown almost big enough to be called a small tree. Loaded that foliage into the green organics bin for the city to pick up. And I walked a mile in the neighborhood, returning a key to the Church Office. Got all that done before Noon.
Then I crashed! Was so incredibly sore and tired through the rest of the day. Dang!

One very long day. Long, but good. Most of this day was taken up in preparation for tonight's Assembly meeting, and then the meeting itself was a good one, though much longer than it otherwise would have been had our Election Chairman's printer been working. Still, business was conducted smoothly. And I was elected to the position of Faithful Navigator again. So I'll be way busy for the next Fraternal Term, July 01 2023 till June 30 2024.
But now I'm tired and headed to bed.

For the last couple of days I've stopped using Tylenol and Ibuprofen, but now I'm thinking that wasn't such a smart idea. Even though the Doctor and nurses at the ER a few weeks told me to use them to deal with the soreness from my fall back on the 7th, I've been concerned about possible liver and kidney damage that could be caused by those two OTC meds.
But the soreness has been increasing since going off those pain killers. And now I'm headed to the medicine cabinet to get some Tylenol. Think I'll see if I can make do with lighter doses.

So I caught myself midday thinking, “Man, I'm glad it's Friday! It's been a long week!” Then I realized it's only Monday. Oh, drat!

I many ways, this Sunday has been my best day in two weeks. Though I was typically sore when I woke this morning, that soreness steadily declined as the day wore on. To the point there have been moments later in the day when, if I didn't move much, I'd be relatively pain free. And my movements, if I was careful about it, didn't hurt all that much.
Hoping for another good night's sleep tonight and another good day tomorrow.
