Your Religion

Do you believe in the theory of evolution? That is, more or less, that we have evolved through natural selection in billions of years from cells that randomly formed in the primordial soup?

Probably you do. You have been told in school it is so. You have been told science says so.

Did you verify what you have been told? Probably you haven't, most people don't.

It is the same with most opinions, people believe what others say and make it their own opinion, but they usually don't verify it themselves.

That is why many people believe many things they do not understand. They don't know if it is true or false either. They just believe in it.

This is where religion comes in. Religion is thought to be something you believe in but you cannot or have not verified.

All the opinions you have not verified yourself together are your personal religion.

You have not invented your religion, but you have assembled your religion from opinions around you.

I congratulate you to your religion. I'm a bit sorry for you too because you have no pope or reverend or rabbi or priest to talk over your faith.

But maybe it's better if you don't have anyone to talk it over with because then you would probably start to doubt your faith – and that could make you quite uneasy.

No, it's probably better to have blind faith and not to question the validity of one's own convictions and opinions – or what is your opinion on that?
