Ok, so this is the ' big cool secret project' I've been hinting at on the Content Builders Club for weeks!
I've put the A-Z of Movie Deaths on hold since September, when I first had the idea to do this.
In between my day job, having interviews to prepare for, and getting involved with the Content Builders Club Blitz, I've devoted pretty much all of my time to this...
I've been busy beavering away, starting to create 24 movie death illustrations (I know! Appropriate, right?) to release as daily images for you to peruse. Hopefully, you'll find them amusing, well-crafted and be appreciative of the big effort that's gone into this.
From December 1st until Christmas Eve, I'll be launching one image per day, without title or commentary... Cos, it's Christmas, a time of giving, and I want to make this into a competition!
I'll be giving away 100 XRP to a lucky Coil subscriber! They can spend it, stash it, give it to charity, whatever they want.
I hope you'll find it engaging. Challenging without being stupid hard, and not too time consuming to get involved.
So if you're not a Coil subscriber, but you want to get in the game, you can go and sign up now!
Right, done it? Cool! We're good to go! Here are the simple rules for Coil subscribers!
The end of the Teenies is only weeks away and I'm seeing a flurry of articles by people reflecting on their last 10 years on Earth.
Some are sad, some are funny. Some are outlandish! I follow illustrator Dan Berry on Twitter (@thingsbydan) who wrote about this today and so far, for me, he's definitely winning.
Among a lot of cool stuff, during the last 10 years, Dan has:
- Taught comics in a 1000 year old house
- 1st proper book published
- Was presumed kidnapped in Algeria (he wasn't!)
I can't possibly compete with the excitement(?) of any of those things, but it made me think, I could write one of these articles.
It's an experiment. And while I don't know if it will be as interesting as Dan's, it's certainly a quick and easy way for you to see a snapshot into the most recent period of my life and get to know me a bit better in a few bullet points. So here goes. Ahem.
This decade I...
Visited Norway (and decided it wasn't as good as Alaska)
Had two beautiful baby girls delivered into my life and let them help me to be a good dad and continue to be a good human being
Met UK actor and documentary-maker Ross Kemp
Celebrated 10 years happily married
Fell out with my in-laws for a year (a dark time – but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?)
Took my first lone flight (only to Dublin)
Lost touch with a good friend through laziness on my part then reconnected again
Learned how to put other people before myself
Started a blog – it's therapeutic! (For me, not you)
Learned how to floss (dance, not dental)
Went to Majorca three times and fell in love with the place
Discovered a love for Guinness
Saw Matilda and Wicked in London's West End and developed a love for musical theatre
Changed my career path (just shuffled a few steps to the right)
Published some old illustrations. Made some new ones
Met a lot of cool people and made good friends with some of them
Learned how to make a roast dinner
Went to Disneyland Paris twice
Travelled Europe on the world's largest cruise ship
Lost my mum – the lowest of low points
Got verbally abused by Scottish comedian Jerry Sadowitz in his comedy show which was abandoned when a guy turned blue and collapsed (he was fine afterwards)
They weren't in any particular order.
If you want to talk to me about any of those things, please come and chat. You can find me on Twitter or you can talk to Ken Melendez about joining the Content Blogging Club on Telegram.
This is normally the bit where I try to creatively persuade non-Coil subscribers to sign up. But it's day 13 of 14 the Coil Blogging Blitz. I'm sorry people, not much left in the tank at the minute...
I'll be back in the game very soon though. Just you watch.
