New fitness baseline
Over the last month my weight loss and running have both plateaued... but that's OK! If you had told me at the start of the year I'd loose 14 ± 2 lbs in 3-4 months and be able to run 5k again I'd have been a little doubtful but very happy! I feel more like myself again on the physical side for the first time in years and that has a positive knock-on for the mental/emotional wellbeing side too.
The Slimfast diet certainly worked as a shortcut. The trick now is to incorporate more healthy eating habits, something that a combination of pandemic lockdown and having a baby have already helped with. On the running side, niggles in my right hip and knee seem to be limiting me to 5k at the moment. The short term plan is to try and regularly get in three runs a week, building up total mileage. Maybe mix in some body weight and core strength training and stretching in-between runs. Long term look to getting new running shoes post pandemic.
That's all for now. The sun is out to be enjoyed and there are household tasks to do. I need to step-up my blog posting rate over the next month if I'm to finish the “100 Days to Offload” challenge within a year. I'm close so it's be a shame not to! Hopefully I'll be able to mix in a few more thoughtful pieces and some poetry along with shorter posts.
