Dear Coilers, just a thought or two about the problem for the future becoming the present. You who read this are probably in Crypto so deeply you almost can’t come out of it even if you wanted to. But for the Crypto to succeed, the majority has to accept it and that very majority is the problem.

Most of the people have heard for Crypto in the late 2017. and the beginning on 2018. during The Pump. There was not a single day you couldn’t read about Crypto in papers, on portals or even listen to people discuss it in bars when half drunk. They haven’t been interested in Crypto per se but in the opportunity to feed their greed and become millionaires without any knowledge or work. Even elderly in public transportation were discussing it.

A lot of “investing” companies came out of nowhere offering appealing investment packages, marketed in the same way every time: If you had invested xy months ago you would have made xxx zillions on your 100$ investment and if the future gain will be at least 50% of the past gain you will be a millionaire. All followed by the unreadably small letters saying: You will loose it all, fool, but we don’t care.

Many got in as the greed has eaten their common sense and their lack of knowledge didn’t help it either...

...Aaaaand, it’s gone...

The time passed and the Crypto story calmed down. The only thing which stayed is THE FACT that the Crypto is a FRAUD, nothing more nothing less. A fraud.

Now the story comes to my personal experience. I was IN before The Pump and am still in, in this loooong bear market. People occasionally ask me about the Crypto and my investment, as they know I stick to my beliefs. I do not start telling them about it myself, but Ken The Boss asked an interesting question: “What do you think is a good comeback line for when someone asks: “Hey, hows that Bitcoin thing going for ya?” I always say good, but I feel like there is a more smart-alec yet still respectful way to respond...”

I said maybe an answer shoul be: “Maybe the best is to tell them the charts are available on the Internet so go check them yourself if you are interested.”

I’ve learnt that people do not like to take the risk nor to blame themselves for their own wrong moves. As well, people rather belive to crooks in suits who want to take their hard earned cash than to those who really care about their well being. Whan I was telling people not to invest on the top of the baloon they’ve been saying I dont want them to earn. After I’ve helped them invest because they begged me to do it and the market went the only way it could have possibly gone, I was guilty for their loss. (Here I have to say that my friend Ivan is the only who do not blame me and he always says: “I have smoked and drunk much more than I have invested and my XRP is still here for my son.” (Who is 1 yr old btw))

So the majority, because of their greed, think that Crypto is a fraud and it is a story which has already ended and will never come back. No facts are going to change their mind. They are narrow minded. I even talked to the owner of one Croatian news portal trying to explain him blockchain and crypto assets and... it’s all Bitcoin to him and it is fraud. I faced him with the facts but he didn’t want to change his mind no matter he didn’t have counter arguments to the facts presented nor the answers to my questions. He doesn’t talk to me since then.

Ive called him an ignorant fool thou. The Boss says that it might be a reason...

But for the wide acceptance we need mass media to educate Plebs. If the mass media owners and editors are against it, all of us IN this story have to find a way to change it.

The only language all of them understand is MONEY so for the broad acceptance we need new highs. People LOVE buying expensive things, not cheap. It will be expensive when there will not be a flood of coins offered on exchanges and when use cases raise the demand for them. Till then we will watch speculators play with noobs eating their nerves and life savings...

Don’t be a NOOB, be a HODLER!

Dear Coilers, this week’s brew is about the beer style, which is, these days, one of the most consumed styles of all brews. In Coil’s taproom for the subscribers the original Pilsner will be tested.

PILSNER – Czech Republic, once known as Bohemia, has a long history of brewing and their beers are world famous. So famous that some have stolen the name from them (hint Budvar...)

Part of rich Czech beer history is Pilsner, named after the city of Plzeň (Pilsner in German), a beer developed as an answer to consumers demand for bottom fermented beers. Style which instantly became ultra popular among Czechs and spread around the world keeping it’s status till the present days. You will learn about the history of it in a video to come.

CZECH PILSNER – The original, Bohemian one, was created by Josef Groll, a Bavarian master brewer, in mid 19th century. He combined his knowledge in brewing with Bavarian bottom fermenting yeasts, Saaz hops and light malts and made a history.

Those ingerdients gave clean, crisp, soft malty and nicely bitter beer which spread through Europe in notime and later through America.

GERMAN PILSNER – also known as Pilsener or Pils followed the Bohemian original after it became popular. As the original was made in German technique and with German yeasts, they’ve just slightly modified it adding other German hops in combination with Saaz which was originally used. That gave more hoppy beer than the Czech one. Slight hints of malty sweetness can be noticed but hops are the main thing here.

AMERICAN (IMPERIAL) PILSNER – Apart from most of the American beer styles, this one was not raised in Craft movement but was actually brought to the States by German immigrants (yes, immigrants can enrich the country they migrate to) though the originally brought style is mostly homebrewed these days. But it was a start point for the development of the American Imperial Pilsner which WAS born within the Craft movement. As all American styles every note and flavour is brought up. Stronger flavours, stronger hoppiness and, as the name imperial says, stronger alcohol. Important fact to say is that they mostly sticked to the original, European, hops rather than American. But as the American brewers are known for their love to experimenting, you can expect different varieties within the style.

Dear Coilers, this one from the photography series is not going to be a tutorial but an essay. To make you think about photography in more of a sentimental way.

A photo is nothing more but a light cought by sensor/film, OK, more on sensor and much much less on film. But the sentimental value which photo can have is greater than anything else.

Here I don’t want to talk about product photography, business portraits, beautiful landscapes... but personal photos which have a story behind them.

Luckily, these days photos can be taken by every single person in every single moment. The problem is that people don’t take the photos which will have a sentimental value in future. Snapping food, streets, store windows or moments from the bars is something which will be put on social media and forgotten. Those, if you delete them the moment you take them, won’t be missed.

And there are photos which are not worth anything the moment they are taken but in future they can make us laugh, cry, think.

Those are mostly family photos. No matter the occasion they were taken, they can become a frozen memory of the moment we will never be able to repeat.

A friend of mine, whom I know since birth, with whom I attended school and sometimes work with, is a father of 4. It would be a plain fact to know if he wasn’t a father of 5 not long ago...

You get it... and he was only one and a half years old...

The only “live” memories they have left are photos and videos of the little fighter.

Not long before “the end” we were working together in Dubrovnik, filming a sports event. He brought his whole family with him as he didn’t want to miss a single moment of the whole family together. And I freezed many many moments of them together.

When we were returning back from Dubrovnik to Zagreb, we stopped at one of the most beautiful lay-by places on highways in the world, Krka on Zagreb-Split highway. Me, him and 4 of his kids in the van. The sight is beautiful there, objectively beautiful, but the whole atmosphere was a bit odd.

Then I’ve shot “the one” which was exhibited during this year’s Bienale in Venice in a photo exhibition organized there...

Little fighter’s two sisters looking at the ringing mobile phone in the moment their mom calls...

The whole sight and the beauty of both nature and human’s work were not important in that moment. The only important thing was a call from their mom who was with the little one...

The photo might seam like one of the many same, but the story behind it makes it special and eternal for them.

This photo is on the desktop of my friend’s father since then... It is a photo their family LOVES. And I find many technical imperfections and always return to thinking how I could have make it better...

But in the end, if no other photo I’ve taken, this one is worth my camera being bought.

Dear Coilers, after I’ve informed you about the 1st Croatian XRP meetup which took part on Saturday in Plaza bar in Zagreb, Croatia, it’s time to introduce you to Dario Suveljak (@stedas) the organizer of the meetup and the person behind all those XRP infographics all of you have seen.

Thou Dario and I live in the same city and are members of the XRP community, the XRP meetup was the first time we met in person. I asked him for an interview so other members of the community could get to know him better and get the insight in his work...

*Dario, you are well known member of the XRP Community, especially thru your infographics. First, tell us a few words about your beginnings in XRP investing?*

My name is Dario. I am an infographic designer, web usability specialist and a big XRP and Ripple supporter.

In October 2017 I got really interested in crypto and digital assets. I have done my DYOR (Do Your Own Research) and among others I have discovered XRP. I have learnt a lot about XRP and Ripple the company. When comparing XRP to other cryptocurrencies it was evident that XRP is better and cheaper for payments – it is a far better technology. Since then I have been actively participating in the promotion of and raising the awareness about the digital currency XRP (and Ripple) on my Twitter and have created numerous infographics and guides on Ripple and XRP. During last 2 years my website helped thousands of crypto enthusiasts and XRP supporters and investors to learn more about and to understand better the Ripple's mission – enabling the Internet of Value.

*Your infographics are known to every member of the XRP Community, how you make them? Is ste process time-consuming and how long it takes to research the facts you use to make them? Please give us an example.*

Thank you for this question. The process of creating infographics is really time and energy consuming but it mainly depends on the complexity of infographic itself; how many graphical and textual elements are visualised and how easy / hard is to present the topic.

If I needed to break the process down into percentages, it would be:

1. Research and preparation: 50%

2. Copy (text): 10%

3. Design: 35%

4. Promotion (Twitter, XRP Chat and Facebook): 5%

I remember when working on my first XRP Community Poster back in the September 2018 (ver #1), I got asked by Tiffany Hyden how long does it take to make such a graphic. And this was my answer:

“Here are some fun stats:

- 3 applications in use (Adobe Fireworks, Illustrator and Fotosizer)

- a few sheets of paper, two pencils and a felt pen

- over 10 liter of water

- 3 days of research and design

- 2x Ibuprofen (sometime in the process of creating this I realized that I haven't slept for some time 😎“

https://twitter.com/stedas/status/1039880391820230656

One of the most time-consuming infographics I have made was the one on „Ripple vs SWIFT“.

The preparation for resources lasted for several weeks. I needed to gather all those informations from different reliable sources so the final information was accurate and correct (there were over 60 points/facts I needed to visualize). Add the designing time to all that, copy and promotion... and you will know how time-consuming that work really was.

I have to say that two copies of these famous posters are located in the Ripple's headquarters in San Francisco (sent directly to Mr. Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple).

And to conclude, every infographic is good if the presented content and design is in harmony and if an infographic can easily convey a high volume of information quickly in a memorable way. That's the main purpose of a good and informative infographic.

I think people in the XRP Community will now appreciate our work, time and effort we, as content creators, put in creating different types of content for them to consume – whether it is a blog post, video presentation or an infographic. And, most of the time we do it voluntarily. So next time you want to say something against the content creator's work – don't do it – be respectful and have gratitude for their creations.

Fortunatelly, there are members in the XRP community that appreciate my work and support me either by sending tips over the XRP Tip Bot or by mentioning on their YouTube channels.

*XRP community poster had its evolution since the first one, 100 XRP community members, as i can remember... what are the numbers now?*

Ah, the XRP Community Poster – a holy grail of community...

The main purpose of the posters is to make an „easy to share“ image for all those that are new in the community or that want to connect over the social channels like Twitter, YouTube, blogs or XRP chat. At the end of a day we all share common attitudes, interests, and goals and love to connect to like-minded people.

A little bit of history

The first one was made in the September 2018 and it showed 100+ members. I picked some of the most active, respectable and famous members in the XRP community

(I remember that one really got some attention by the community and also a heated debate started on whether should I make it or not because some people always got excluded...). I haven't been discouraged by that and continued to work on posters in the months to come – simply because the people in the community wanted to be mentioned and included.

Women in XRP community

A few weeks later another infographic was born – this one show women in the XRP community. And this one was really fun to create because some of the great and really nice women took a part and helped me make a list of other female members of our community. I called them „The XRP Women Squad“: @NordicAnn @PattyB09952203 @JRAmbassadorXRP @kcool081003 @luv2hodl @mhschmidt2 @GrapeRipple @BobbiMarquez197 @RamonaHarberts @loripek68 @lovebooalways...

Then came the 2nd poster published in June 2019 with over 600 community members and the 3rd poster published in October 2019 with over 500 community members.

The rest is history...

XXL Community Poster

The newest member in the family is the XXL XRP Community Poster – currently being developed. This one will be the biggest on including over 1000 members! If you want to be featured in this poster you can sign up here

The XRP Community Poster is a great reminder on everyone's XRP journey. So, I invite every XRP Community member to join and be a part of it.

Each poster takes several weeks (sometimes more than a month) to prepare and make. It is made with great love, time and effort! If you like it, feel generous or simply want to say “Thanks” – please consider joining and being a part of the poster here or make a donation via XRP Tip Bot. Thank you ❤

*You were the organizer of the first Croatian XRP meet-up, I know its not the last but what are your visions for the future?*

I am so excited that we organized the first XRP Community meetup in Zagreb, Croatia. There are so many people that would like to participate or share their common vision and pasion and the meetups are a great place to discuss and talk about XRP and Ripple.

I would like to thank all the XRP pioneers from Croatia (and Slovenia, too) who came to this gathering. I also have to thank my brother Mario who helped with the organization of the meetup to be as successful as we planned.

See you next year XRP pioneers

What will the future bring for the meetups in our community? Nobody knows, but I am sure we will continue to strengthen the XRP community in Croatia and the region and we will try to make even a larger and better events with additional features (fintech conference, exhibition, XRP ledger projects...)

Hope we will get a support from Ripple, too!

Dario, thank you for your work and for this little chat, looking forward to see your new graphics as well as new live meetings.

Dear Coilers, the day had finally come and the Croatian part of the XRP community had a meetup!

On Saturday, November the 30th the core of the XRP enthusiasts met in Plaza bar in Zagreb, Croatia. As well, members of Slovenian community took the trip to come and meet us. It is the best proof that political differences do not bother normal people and a good will for making our frendship and connections stronger. Guys thanks for the visit and see you again soon!

The meetup was organised by Dario who is well known member of the XRP community on Twitter. His infographics about XRP are known worldwide and you will be able to learn more about the way he makes them in the interview to come.

As it was the first meeting, Dario prepaired a few topics to discuss so we can get to know our XRP story better as well as discussing our views about the future of that digital asset.

The topics were:

  1. When have you first bought/invested in XRP and why?
  2. Are you a holder, a trader or both and what fits better for you?
  3. Have you used XRP TipBot and what is your experience with it. Have you recommended it to family and friends?
  4. Have you heared about Coil? Have you used it as a platform for monetization of your blog or web site?
  5. Which wallet you use for holding your assets?
  6. What will influence the price of XRP in the next bull run?
  7. FOMO/FUD (social networks, media, psychology...)
  8. Institutional use of XRP
  9. Do banks hold XRP in custodial accounts?
  10. Discussing some special events in the world / financial, geopolitical situation
  11. Price prediction for XRP in 5 years period (2025)
  12. Negative sides of XRP – potential danger... what can disturb the growth and global acceptance of it?
  13. Exit strategy, transfering to FIAT, exchanges...
  14. Discussing potential use cases for the XRP apart from “bridge asset”
  15. Smart contracts – Codius
  16. XRP as the store of value
  17. Micropayments
  18. Tokenization of stocks
  19. Jurisdiction and taxation of cryptocurrencies

Each member had spoken about his (unfortunately not her this time but in future...) thoughts about the topics which was a great chance to hear different views from the people who all belive in those three letters.

All in all, 15 members from Croatia and Slovenia were part of this, for us, a historical meetup. Some are long known authorities in the Croatian IT sector, even the most famous Croatian business angel was there!

Dario did a great job starting something what will grow in future and hopefully will become an important part of the Croatian crypto world.

The members active in the XRP community on Twitter who were there:

⁦‪@salwe30

@cro_tatek

@Natko

@bmarton613

@MatejR4

@NewWorldBank2

@selmersax2002

@Dkadmen

@Malovan10

@Ivan11001507

@stedas

The meetup was fun with some drinks, laugh and serious discussion as well as a lottery in which Ivan got the XRP community poster, one of Dario’s best known products.

The meetup was covered by BUG, the most important regional Tech Magazine and more cover from other media is about to come. The first meetup was maybe small but it was successful. It was a foundation of the future big things to come.

Croats maybe aren’t numerous, but we are powerful. When we want to be.

Dear Coilers, thou I have posted more than a few videos in “Travel!” series of articles, ive never made nor posted a vlog.

After my CBC sister Patricia started her vlogs I’ve decided to do at least one myself.

It is a video about how i review beers. It’s a review of the Münchner Hell which you can read in written form in the article about Hellers thou this one was filmed separately from that review.

It was filmed in my pals barroom and was done without any equipment but it looks and sounds decent enough to be published. Only me and my voice are trying to ruin it but... here is that 6:39 video

Dear Coilers, this week’s “Brew!” is about Munich Helles Lager, and one will be reviewed in Coil’s taproom for the subscribers. Lager is the biggest of the beer families and Munich Helles is just a small klan it.

MUNICH HELLES LAGER – (or Hell, meaning bright, light, pale in German) was German answer to the Czech Pilsner which became very popular. It was first brewed in the Spaten brewery which is regarded as the most significant German brewery in the development of lager brewing. Records suggest that there was a Spaten Brewery, at first a brewpub, in Munich as far back as 1397.

This brew is much maltier than Pilsner. While in Pilsner hops play the main role, Pilsner malts are in the center of the Munich Helles. Helles is also higher in alcohol than Pilsner. Grainy, malty sweetness in combination with spicy hops low in bitterness makes this brew smooth and very drinkable with stronger body than Pilsner which is mostly thin.

It is mostly filtrated, clear beer thou some breweries pour it in an unfiltered version.

Like all lagers, this yellow coloured beer is brewed with bottom fermenting yeasts and with bitter hops which are much less pronounced than in Pilsner.

Craft brewers love making their own interpretations of Helles. Some stick to the tradition and are using German malts and hops but there are also those who use more “craft connected” American ingredients and are playing with the old recipes to make something new and different. Whichever version you choose you wont be sorry, it is worth trying and it will enrich your beer geek experience.

Dear Coilers, this article of mine will be written in Croatian, to inform my pals about Coil and the possibilities it offers to both readers and creators...

Osobno sam u tom programu.

Počnite kreirati sadržaj i objavljivati ga. Ako budete kvalitetni i ustrajni Coil će vas prepoznati. Oni zbilja čitaju svaki članak!

A ako niste od onih kojima se piše, dođite i podržite platformu koja radi na tome kako bi XRP postao standard plaćanja na Internetu.

Dear Coilers, have you ever been thinking about the fact that locals observe your behaviour when you are abroad? That you are representatives of your country who participate the opinion making about your homeland and its nation?!

Tourism became an important player in global economy. Last year, 2018, tourism participated with $1,7 trillion in the total global gross domestic product which was about 2% of it. According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), international tourists arrivals increased from 25 million in 1950. and 166 million in 1970. to 1,4 billion in 2018. which was a record year of 6% increase just from the year before.

France is the most popular country in the world to visit is France, followed by Spain, the US, China and Italy... My country, Croatia with population of arround 4 million was visited by 18,7 million tourists in 2018. As my major in my economics studies was Tourism and Hospitality I closely follow the trends in this economy branch and am traind to see both positive and negative influence of the tourism.

In the early stages of the development of tourism, tourists were highly appreciated and were bringing additional income to the destinations but in this stage of mass tourists migrations, they’ve become sort of a trouble. Some of the destinations are the victims of their own popularity, like Dubrovnik in Croatia with 1,27 million annual arrivals in that 40000 citizens town. Or even worse, Venezia, Italy, with population of 262000 has about 20 million of visitors each year. Cities infrastructure is falling apart in many places and local governments became real inventors in finding ways of suppressing the increase of the number of visitors.

Handling so many tourists is hard but handling rude, unpolite and disrespectful tourists is a nightmare.

And then came the social networks... Zero-category monuments protected by UNESCO have become nothing but the background for selfies. People hanging from bell towers, petting wild animals in national parks, carving names in the Egyptian plastery... you name it and you’ll find selfies with people doing it. Or urinating in public on the walls of ancient temples, rumbling the streets drunk in muslim (and non muslim) countries, wrestling with swans in Switzerland, writing graffiti ancient monuments...

Travelling is the occasion when we break free from our daily routine and it gives us a feel of freedom. We don’t have to be focused on the everyday things but on new experiences but some people take that freedom too far.

Some sociologists think that the framework by which we are bound in our everyday surroundings does not apply when we travel abroad. Noone knows us there and we are not staying too long there so we don’t care.

They think that travelers behave the way they always wanted to but it wouldn’t be acceptable in their homeland so they do it abroad as they dont have to be worried of their neighbours seeing them.

What we all can do is to think before we act. Think about how would you feel if you’ve seen someone in your own backyard doing things you wanted to do in others. If you wouldn’t like to see it just don’t do it. Or think would you do it if your mother was there with you?! I’m sure you wouldnt...

Dear Coilers, “Brew!” series continues. As the 14 days marathon of beer articles was well accepted by you the readers, I plan to continue writing them weekly with beer reviews in Coil’s taproom as the main point.

This one is about...

RED BEERS – are not of the most common in the beer family. One would expect from very pale yellow, golden and copper to deep dark chocoletey, even black in color, but red is usually not in the spectrum of beer colours.

Red beers are everything but an unique style, they include both Ales and Lagers. Or Flanders Red which is sour... But they are red and that fact makes them different from what one would expect from beer. Lets see what can be tasted when the red one is poured...

AMERICAN RED – are both Ales and Lagers. The name says it is an American style of beer but an addition of caramel and specialty malts give red, ruddy amber colour. American Reds are very malty in taste. They go from bready, toasy to caramelly and fruity. As American brews are known for for heavy use of hops, expect the fruiti taste of them, even more in Red IPAs or Imperials.

IRISH RED – both Ales and Lagers are just like American Reds all about the malt content. Hops and bitterness is present, even noticable bitterness in some brews, but they are much more malty than hoppy. Bread, toast, buttery toffee, caramel and malty sweetness is what you’ll get in them but the sweetness is calmed with a pleasantly dry finish coming from the roasted malts.

FLANDERS RED ALE – was covered in the article about Belgian Ales but as it is a part of the Red family lets repeat... Flanders Red originates from the West Flanders region. It’s ruby to burgundy red and the complex flavours of fruit like black cherries, currants and agrumes follow the colour. Aging in oak barrels gives it vanilla and some chocolate notes and addition of Lactobacillus and Brettanomyces gives it some sourness. This style is for those who want a beer which is the most similar to wine.
