Year 3 and beyond
As Write.as turns two years old, we're looking forward to the years ahead. Now settled in as a simple, easy blogging platform, we've started planning our next major step.
When we got started in early 2015, we had simple aspirations in mind: a good-looking anonymous publishing app. As more people used Write.as in new ways, we started to evolve into the simple blogging app you see today. While we haven't fully completed the evolution across platforms (more on this later), we're at a really good spot. People seem to like us (some even enough to pay us — thank you!), and as a product we've only gotten more focused. It's from this vantage point that we see a clear path forward.
We're aiming to, in the coming years, be a platform for writers to make money from their work. We want to help new writers get off the ground and independent writers stay independent. Above all, we think writing should be sustainable, and we want to help make that possible.
This is a big goal, and one we're happy to try to solve along with other great products doing the same right now. We have some ideas on how to get there, but would also love to hear from you if you have some yourself.
This year will be about discovery here at Write.as — a luxury we're fortunate to have. Our future isn't riding on this big play, though of course we hope it works out. We'll always be a simple writing and publishing app underneath it all, and continue improving there no matter what.
In the coming months you'll continue seeing new features, especially for Pro users, like image hosting, and tools for building an audience and packaging your work. But first you'll see updates to our apps, starting with Android and Chrome OS, featuring cross-device post syncing and access to your blogs. It's a major upgrade, and one we want to get right the first time. We think you're really going to like it.
