Went for a short wander this afternoon. RZ67 loaded with RPX400. Something not quite right, shutter firing at 1/400 every frame, no matter the speed set..! Bugger, thankfully the light was not great and I went home to fathom the issue. Turns out that the mirror was locked up – anyway..!

I walked over the hill back to the beach at Doune today. The weekend has been very stormy here with wind in excess of a constant 30kts, and today was the first opportunity to fetch her back.

This was to be the first extended sail for Pakwâci. How far could I sail in home waters taking into account tide and wind, comfortably or not in one day..? With Westerlies of some direction forecast I would be able to reach both up and down the Sound of Sleat once out of Loch Nevis. As it was the wind in my home loch allowed me to be close hauled right up to the entrance then turn to a beam reach and head North.

I took Pakwâci out this afternoon for a couple of hours.

A better wind today to do some more strenuous sea trials. A steady 8 – 10 Kts, gusting 15 kts. I set off from the slip under 'Main' only and once out of the shelter of the pier quickly built speed heading almost due West. I had half an idea to sail out into the Sound of Sleat, but thought some more local trials would suffice...

Launch Day is imminent...

A couple of days ago I did a test rig on dry land, and today I finished off the last couple of remaining jobs.

I decided to make up a new panel for the Bow today, then changed my mind, then I found a piece of Oak in the shed, so decided to make two Quarter-knees to replace the original ply panel and strut.

I sanded down the newly taped seams and the reinforced glass/epoxy floor this morning. After cleaning up, I then applied the 1st coat of Woodskin to the decks, benches, daggerboard casing, the bulwarks and another coat to the gunnels.
