Nationalities In Hetalia Anime

Hetalia is an anime where countries are put on show and satire stereotypes in the characters whose country they come from. The reason why I chose this anime is specifically because of the Texan Flag being changed six times. Texas's history begins with the Spanish flag, the French flag, the Mexican flag, the Republic of Texas flag, the Confederate flag, and finally, the American Flag. Spain in Hetalia is a character who gets tortured by England and the Netherlands and even worse was “beaten by younger America”. He does not “read the atmosphere” very well but is very happy for sunshine in Spain. He is very close with France, Romano, and Prussia throughout the anime for he is often seen hanging out with them. France (Francis Bonnefoy) was all-powerful but after Napoleon Bonaparte dying the country instead had the world loved his wine. He is very hands-on and embraces the idea “The City of Love” (Paris) a little too much. His relations with other countries results in harassment claims, and he announces himself as “the dandiest among the dandies.” Mexico (Ramiro Sabas Graciano) is a side character in the Hetalia franchise. He is known to wear his “tan Charro suit with fingerless-holed gloves” for special occupations. Ramiro is the type of person to constantly test any relationship he is in, even beginning WWII. The Republic of Molossia represents the Republic of Texas from the anime in my opinion. Molossia is a micronation that is not recognized as a country in the state of Nevada in America and is similar to the Texan Republic by it being short lived. The republic is also a character who has a double personality in his private life and public life. Confederacy (Alexander S. Jones) is a fan-made character for the Hetalia series. Alex, a.k.a “South,” is the made-up younger brother to America and sought assistance from England and France but miserably failed on trade. Proposal for birthday change is on February 8th in honor of CSA's Provisional Constitution. America (Alfred F. Jones) is your stereotypical American who is obsessed with exercise and junk food as some of his characterizations. The real brother of America is Canada who lies in the shadows of him and is mistaken for his brother at times. Alfred is known for the classic look of a bomber jacket with the number 50 on the back of it as the United States. Therefore, four of the six flags for Texas are legitimate while two are questionable.

Anime Rouge Protagonists

Anime has many stories to tell and goes into different kinds. One story that is always shocking is the main character losing control or being tempted by darkness. The dark side holds its victims tightly and squeezes the last bit of sin in a character. Going rouge is the concept of pursuing one's interests to the point where following rules or customs are forgotten. Also, some characters discussed would not be said by name for major spoilers to some shows. Yomi Isayama from Ga Rei Zero edges between rouge and helpful mentor in Ga-Rei. She was supposed to bring honor to the Isayama Family by taking up the sword in the clan. However, a dark power known as Bane Stone (sesshōseki) made her fell tragically in corruption. Sengoku Youko has Yamato Jinka who releases too many power levels at once and ends up in a mindless state. The rouge aspect is taken after the time skip and involves a character trying to help Jinka. In the process of helping, the person doing the assistance becomes the tyke-bomb antagonist (a person raised at a young age or birth to serve a master with evil intentions) of the series. Yūji Sakai in Shakugan no Shana is a character who has a torch which is a human replacement whose Power of Existence was devoured. He merges himself with the Snake of the Festival that bestows great power. This is a great example of characters who think that they should be punished and justifies certain actions in the name of love. Higurashi: When They Cry has a character that later becomes the big bad in Umineko: When They Cry. This character is said to have lots of years and entirely becomes a different individual. The character falls into “Groundhog Day” loop (events repeats itself over and over) and into a fusion of all pain in time. Let's not forget about Sasuke from Naruto and Shippuden. Sasuke has a rough upbringing and struggles with his past to which partly influences him to leave the Hidden Leaf Village and be a rogue ninja. His story is one of redemption and turning a new leaf in the end. There are many characters that could be label as rouge and potentially an unexpected villain. I hope that this entry follows suit with interesting plot holes with minimal revealing info about the anime mentioned.

Anime Characters that Travel

Anime has lots of characters who travel around and make a name for themselves. Traveling comes in many forms like going on quests or journeys, fleeing away from danger, leaving to train in faraway places, or traveling to different time periods, dimensions, and galaxies. Characters have to travel rather they like it or not for advancing the storyline and keep moving forward. Howl is always moving around place to place so much that is shown to multiple addresses and aliases. He has many responsibilities as a wizard of several names and obligations in different cities due to his identity crisis. According to Michael Fisher (Howl's apprentice in the magical arts), Howl is the type who that “hates being pinned down to anything” which insight to him almost always running away from his problems. Fuu is a person who is looking for the “Samurai who smells of sunflowers” in Samurai Champloo. She later meets Mugen and Jin in the show who try to help in her obsessive pursuit over this mysterious individual. This unlikely trio forms a strong sense of belonging despite Fuu finding herself in a tough pickle. Fai D. Flowright is a spellcaster in Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE and wants a life that is simple. He goes to Yūuko for assistance and eventually resigns in another dimension. “The Big Cat” (Fai) tries to escape his past through Syaoran's group of allies but has to face it at some point. Holo from Spice and Wolf is a harvest deity for the town of Pasloe in the form of a fox. She meets Lawrence, a traveling merchant, who is just passing by during the town's harvest. Lawrence gets a contract with Holo to return her to Yoitsu, Holo's homeland. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing has an interesting upbringing of a child really young being adopted into a traveling space circus. She is a knife thrower in the circus and recruits many people in the circus as well. Having been in the circus, Catherine Bloom is very adaptable in flying a Gundam and being a circus performer. Sometimes, traveling costs while other times it just being there at the right time and place. Anime uses traveling as a venue for expanding the plot and making it more interesting with lots of situations.

Pets in Anime

Anime is full of animals that are either pets, sidekicks, or partners. Animals always delight us with funny moments, strong bonds, and a sense of family. Panda in Shirokuma Cafe works part-time at the zoo and visits the cafe very often. He loves iced coffee and especially loves bamboo after Polar Bear ordered for him at the cafe. This panda is lazy, obsessed with panda merchandise, and sometimes dim-witted. Pen Pen is a penguin who lives in Misato's apartment in the second freezer in Neon Genesis Evangelion. Misato's penguin is a joy to have around like reading newspapers, enjoying hot spring baths, and even drinking beer. Also, Pen Pen is a genetically modified animal with advanced experimentation that escaped death by Misato's adoption. Totoro is a forest spirit that dwells in the largest camphor tree in a village. He is the companion of the Kusakabe siblings and is the giant Totoro among the three Totoros. When My Neighborhood Totoro arrived in theaters, it became so popular that the mascot of Studio Ghibli is Totoro. Ein from Cowboy Bebop is a highly intelligent dog that got treated as a scientific specimen. He later joined the crew after the perpetrators who kidnapped him got defeated. Also, he is a valuable scientific breakthrough in being a “data dog.” “Fighting evil by moonlight and saving love by daylight” is a classic quote from Sailor Moon. Artemis (the white cat) and Luna (the black cat) are cats that served as the advisors to Queen Serenity. They would eventually serve under Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus. Animals and animal representations are always present and are part of anime to come. These animals are traveling companions, servants to masters, transportation, and many more roles in anime.

Anime's Intelligent Life

intelligence means testing abilities in life and seeing the results of the knowledge. Anime has times where life transforms into reality in superficial means. There are life forms that exist for purposes of artificial intelligence. Sibyl system in Psycho-Pass is a collective of persons who access the crime coefficient of people. The system is supposed to be objective and be able to not show empathy or sympathy. These individuals have the knowledge to bypass the system and are selectively chosen for this niche in society. Media plays a huge part in Summer Wars of a social media platform known as The OZ. It reflects the user's personality and heavily relies on the world in the main operator for space satellites, personal bank accounts, and other daily life activities. The main problem occurs when a major security flaw took place messing up the perfect system. Augmon is a very likability Digimon and forms a strong bond with Taichi “Tai” Yagami. Digimon's world is very complex and occurs between creatures sometimes warping through to Earth and vice-versa. Augmon undergoes a radical change through the show and explores a powerful friendship. Ritsu is a powerful assassin robot in Assassination Classroom. She is from Norway and is designed to kill even the likes of Koro-sensei. Eventually, the class takes her in as a student and starts to learn about humanity. Yui is a character in Sword Art Online and is found lost in the found in the forest. She was found by Kirito and Asuna on the 22nd floor in Aincrad and had memory loss. Overcoming memory loss, Yui is able to find knowledge beyond knowledge and operate as a highly intelligent program trying to be human with Kirito and Asuna's happiness. Intelligence is proven again and again to overtake most situations and proves to us that life can be created as artificial. Artificial intelligence is a constant reminder for what we want and those around us involving technology and other causes to create fake life that seems real.

Inspirations for Anime

Anime inspires us to strive for betterment, satisfaction, and entertainment in the industry. Just as anime inspires us, it also comes from many sources and a collective mindset of influences. The influences are manga, graphic novels, videogames, Western comics, movies, card games books, other anime, TV shows, original concepts, and many more. Manga is the most popular source and usually has one-shots (one chapter then more depending on the reaction) like Fullmetal Alchemist Gaiden. Historian, Richard Kyle, coined the term for graphic novels (book-length comics) when he wrote an essay about Capa-Alpha in 1964. Videogames are animated playthrough content where the person has to complete certain tasks to finish it or to get selected features. An anime franchise that comes to mind is all the Persona anime projects based on the games of Persona 3 through 5. Western comics have established a large fanbase and is widely accepted alongside manga. Witchblade is a comic that was turned into anime and came from Image Comics publishing company. Boruto: Naruto the Movie was the first adaption of the Boruto Franchise in 2015 while the manga started in 2016. Bakugan has magnetic figures that pop out on metal cards with the goal to capture three Gate cards in 2006 before the anime. Howl's Moving Castle had a book version by Diana Wynne Jones which Studio Ghibli made into an anime movie later. Supernatural: The Anime Series was inspired from CW as an American TV Show and explores season 1 and 2 of the series with interesting twists separate from the show. Gundam Build Fighters is a spin-off series from Mobile Suit Gundam where building models are a reality in the anime. Neon Genesis Evangelion is a classic anime and resulted from the original work of Anno Hideaki and Gainax.

United Nations in Anime

Anime has many different societies and countries among them. These collective groups of people are either happy or face difficulties in the world they know. In response to Flag Day, I am writing an entry about how a country came to be by the Second Continental Congress, USA. Flag Day is a national holiday where it was officially recognized in 1946 by the U.S. Congress and honors a country's existence of national identity. In honor of Flag Day and remembering the origins of it, here a list of four occurrences of governments or political affiliations that are more united than people believe to be so. The Holy Britannian Empire in Code Geass is very large and expansive worldwide. This powerful superpower stretches from the Americas to Russia in covering about a third of the Earth. Territories belonging to the empire are Areas like Area 11 in which Japanese citizens are called “Elevens.” The Seven Seas Alliance has Sinbad leading this group of nations and presents itself as a peacekeeping force to combat even the likes of the Kou Empire. Sinbad is known for capturing several dungeons and being a king vessel in the Magi anime. Also, as the name suggests it stretches from the seven seas with countries including Sindria Kingdom, Heliohapt Kingdom, Artemyra, Imuchakk, Sasan Kingdom, Reim Empire, Kina Kingdom (former), and Kou Empire (former). The World Government in One Piece has nearly lasted 800 years with the 20 founding nations after the Void Century. According to the quote, “Look at that symbol, pirates!!! That mark represents the unity of over 170 nations... In the four seas and the Grand Line...!!! This is the World!!! ” ~ Part of Spandam's speech on what the World Government is. Basically, The World Government is a force to take serious and means a lot for 800 years of ruling. Jurai Planet in Tenchi Muyo! takes place in the Milky Way Galaxy and spans over 150,000 years. The descendants have access to a special power known as Family Trees. Also, they have a powerful armada of treeships that can be a force to be reckoned with in galactic warfare. I hope that I gave an insight into how these governments or political affiliations operate and see themselves in the world's view.

Future Predicted By Anime

Anime has all kinds of written dialogue and events occurring. Sometimes, these scenarios are influenced by the world around them while others stand alone. Creative visions in fiction all at one time took a look at the society and envisioned the future of it. Today is anime predicting the future and coming true. Dragon Ball Z (1992) the scouter from the show has a striking resemblance to Google Glass. These lenses have communication access, Global Positioning Service (GPS), cameras, and a neat fashion trend. However, Google Glass is lacking one thing which is predicting an opponent's power level, unlike the Scouter. Denno Coil (2007) gives us an interesting insight into augmented reality and meta bugs. Augmented reality “modifies the look of your surroundings” digitally similar to Microsoft's cast AR or other AR devices. The show has virtual currency, known as Meta Bugs like I don't know, Bitcoin. Bitcoin and meta bugs vary on supply and demand” in terms of their value. Macross Plus (1994) predicted the idea of a “computer-generated pop idol,” named Sharon Apple. Hatsune Miku is from Japan and is a “chart-topping digital pop idol.” Her and Sharon Apple have the niche for singing via graphics. Akira (1988) is a post-apocalyptic anime featuring a connection to the future of 2020. Manga and anime of the same name embraced the idea of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan. Shocking enough, the city was also guessed in Toyko, Japan being the host for the games. If there is a thing that anime proved, it can compete with the likes of The Simpsons of future events coming to fruition. The only future that I do not want to happen is Akira's version of World War 3 and out-of-control beings with immense power.
