Unlucky Anime Characters

Anime has many difficult past origin stories and events that are unlucky to characters. Luck is a word meaning to have good fortune or good things to happen in one's life. Even, St. Patrick's Day would save these people from the misfortune of the world in the slightest. Reika Ko is a pilot of Apollo in Genesis of Aquarion. She might be an important pilot however, others avoid contact with her for how unlucky she is. The constant reminder of her boyfriend's coma, who she thinks herself is the cause of, by fellow pilots traps Reika in a mental prison of self-doubt causing more misfortune. Tsunade might be one of the Legendary Three Ninja in the Hidden Leaf Village of Naruto, but gambling is not her cup of tea. Other than, the Legendary Three Ninja, she is also known as “The Legendary Sucker” for no luck in gambling. When it comes down to it, she knows when the bets are off and releases her “Strength of a Hundred Seal” Jutsu like the Great Ninja War. Anne Happy is an anime full of bad luck with many characters having it. These female protagonists have specific cases like Ruri's lack of luck in love, Botan with very poor health conditions, and An's terrible luck all around. The bad luck of everyone is a common interest and forms a bond over that subject. Yamcha had appearances in three tournaments in which he lost two due to future champions and one whose disguise was really clever. Yamcha's luck in Dragon Ball Z was truly tested in Vegeta's attack on Earth where he was the first person to fall victim to the notorious crater. Unfortunately, he earned the status of Yamcha's Death Pose and tag of “you were Yamcha” meaning recklessness as an insult. Sara Ringwalt starts the series by being a mistake for LaLa-Ru and is imprisoned as a sex slave. Life is not easy for Sara because so much was taken from her in a blink of an eye. The entire mistaken identity causes Sara to blame LaLa-Ru for her misery and says “Keep her away from me or else I might kill her.” If you are fortunate, then good for you but remember, everyone has different circumstances.

Formidable Anime Weapons

Humans have been always curious about warfare and one technological breakthrough of it is the use of weapons. Throughout anime, characters are known for having weapons as support items or main way of fighting. Weapons are objects bestowing the wielders an extension of them and sometimes a power upgrade. The weapons with an upgrade are the ones where you have to keep a keen eye on because they can cause lots of hectic for unlucky targets. They come in many styles and sizes; however, the same similarity that weapons share is making a fight more dangerous. The styles in which characters take up arms are stabbing weapons, projectiles, biochemical, random objects, and many more types of combats. A classic weapon that is infamous around the globe is the sword. Tessaiga is a sword in which the half-demon and half-human, Inuyasha, wields to do battle with furious beasts and demons. The sword has extreme restrictions for full-fledged demons not able to touch it and is known for its ability to kill 100 demons in a single slash. Its ultimate form lies in the other half of Tenseiga (a sword that brings back 100 lives in a single slash) being able to merge with Tessaiga to defeat the Sō’unga. An anime that is known for its use of weapons as the main focus is Soul Eater. Soul Eater has Death City where the popular Death Weapon Meister Academy teaching weapon transforming-human hybrids and meister, the holder of the death weapon. Specifically, Tsubaki Nakatsukasa who is a demon shadow weapon based from ninja or assassin origins in the multiple weapon transformations. Where outdated meets new, is the story of Outlaw Star in Caster guns being obstinate but used in the present. Caster shells are the source of the guns that shoot magically imbued bullets by old wizards a hundred years ago with mana. The users of the caster gun use their life force as a substitute for mana and can perform feet of electricity and black holes via ancient spells. The Spear of Longinus is said to be similar to the holy sword Excalibur of slaying potential but the power to immobilize Angels in Evangelion. Angels in the series are beings of great power usually referred to as Adam's 15 children or First Ancestral Race. The spear is one of the only weapons to pierce the AT Fields or very strong powerful energy barriers that characters use in Evangelion. Dominators are the weapons of choice by the Public Safety Bureau in Pyscho-Pass and determine someone's Pyscho-Pass (crime coefficient) to see their risk to society proving you guilty before you do anything wrong. There are different levels to the dominator like Non-Lethal Paralyzer (100 or more), Lethal Eliminator (over 300), and Destroy Decomposer (used against objects used as weapons such as a mechanical forklift). The non-lethal and lethal modes are targeted on people of getting paralyzed or limbs destroyed with a possible survival rate. Remember, weapons are not evil but are tools that humans use to achieve certain tasks.

What makes anime, “Anime”?

Anime has been a rise of lately with shows like My Hero Academia to several and Fruits Basket. Today the question is what makes anime the way it is? We all know anime comes from the word animation in Japan. Animation has bought great success in Japan and foreign bodies alike. When animation is made in another country, it is often called that countries anime or origin from who made it. For example, shows like Voltron, Transformers, and Avatar: The Last Airbender is what we consider American Anime. Voltron and Transformers are variations of Japanese origin and American origin to spin off and originals. Secondly, wouldn't cartoons and comics suffice for entertainment. A typical comic in society is mostly based on heroics (Marvel or DC comics) but the Japanese version is called manga. Manga or graphic novels both provide enriching storylines via drawings having that depth. Cartoons are either attracted to young children or adults with standard plot lines that are only on the surface level. The best explanation for different types of animation is classifying them as Anime (Japan) animated series (Marvel Anime) and cartoons as (learning anime). These classifications are from my perspective and help explain the animation genres. Video Games are a totally different beast in CG in graphics in which it is considered to be its own category in animation. Finally, is Japan wanting attention to spread its culture upon the world? It is not Japan seeking attention more as a medium to express thoughts about culture. During postwar WWII, Japan was isolated from the world and was heavily censored for spreading quote-in-quote propaganda by the United States. They turned manga in terms of freedom to bypass the censorship. This is spawned a new age for Japan and anime entertainment. Japan expressed its antiwar sentiment from the Second Great War in the published manga which escaped censorship to be known as the War Anime genre. I. hope the anime in Japan stays in its course for it delivers so much admiration for fans.

Pokémon Evolution, What is it?

I was looking up special evolutions of Pokémon and somehow I found this Medium's explanations. It explains that the term evolution is not so cut and dry as people want it to be. There are cases where the evolution term can be applied in other areas outside of the animal kingdom. For example, a virus like the flu evolves into different strands and mutates in a stronger version usually coming with adoptions. Just like they are different evolutions in animals and other kingdoms, they are also various kinds of Pokémon Evolution. The Pokémon that comes to my mind when evolve is in play, is the Evolutionary Pokémon, Eevee. This Pokémon represents evolution through special stones or rocks (Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Leafeon, and Glaceon), high friendship in the daytime or nighttime (Espeon or Umbreon), and affection in Pokémon Amie knowing a Fairy move (Sylveon). Normally, Pokémon follows the rule of battling and gaining experience to level up for evolving. The Porygon evolutionary line has pokemon-held items that change their form when trading like Up-Grade (Porygon to Porygon2) and Dubious Disc (Porygon2 to Porygon-Z). There are also the regular trade evolutions without items like Graveler evolving into Golem and Alolan Golem and Machoke into Machamp. Tyrogue has the conditions to evolve based on stats of the pokemon like Level 20 (Attack > Defense) Hitmonlee, Level 20 (Attack < Defense) Hitmonchan, and Level 20 (Attack = Defense) Hitmontop. There are the special conditions where a pokemon can evolve after learning a specific move, for example, Lickitung Level up knowing Rollout →Lickilicky, Tangela Level up knowing Ancient Power →Tangrowth, and Mime Jr. Level up knowing Mimic →Mr. Mime. Finally, Pokémon with different forms evolving based on location, gender, and certain levels. Burmy's family includes Level 20 (female, Plant Cloak) →Wormadam, Level 20 (female, Sandy Cloak) →Wormadam, Level 20 (female, Trash Cloak) →Wormadam, and Level 20 (male) → Mothim. Shellos family includes Shellos Level 30 →Gastrodon West Sea and Shellos Level 30 →Gastrodon East Sea. Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza are the legendary Weather trio that was reintroduced in Pokémon Omega Ruby And Alpha Sapphire with special evolutions of primal and mega evolution. Kyogre and Groudon have a form known as the Primal Reversion while Rayquaza can revert to its mega evolution without a keystone by using Dragon's Ascent and can not have a Z-crystal as a held item. Evolution can be defined in multiple ways and is a word of many meanings. The genetic material in Pokémon is more likely to evolve faster than animals. Evolving as an animal means that mutations or changes in the DNA occurs causing another generation to be different which will eventually make them evolve slowly. Chobits Anime Song Cover

Songs really capture the image and emotions felt in anime series. Sometimes, a cover of a song could be performed in a way that is different from the original but still brings a great performance. The cover being discussed is from hikky on the Anime Amino community blog. She did a cover of Chobits in which sounds really tranquil and smooth on the fingers by the artist. Chobits' cover comes from the first soundtrack of the anime which was “Let Me Be With You.” Chobits introduces us to Hideki Motosuwa who is a very studious student trying to get into college. He stumbles upon an abandoned Persocom who has defaulted in her programming. Persocoms are personal computers where they resemble human beings and can be classified as intelligent life in some aspects. Hideki soon take the Persocom to his house and tries to play around with the circuits to restart the programming. She is rebooted and the only phrase that is in its vocabulary is Chii. Compared with other Persocoms, Chii has problems to download data about the world on her hard drive which then allows her to learn about the world from Hideki's perspective. Now, Hideki has three problems of affording the world's expenses, studying for difficult college exams, and teaching a Chobit about the world around them. Back to the cover, the inspiration for the song came by hearing it out loud. A song without musical sheets often requires lots of practice involving to listen to the arrangement yet alone self-taught is difficult. Hikky had to repeat six times for learning the song and performing it correctly. I hope this entry for fans taking original source materials and making new with their sense of artistic vision. This song is a perfect example of an indiviual vision taken into an enlightening approach and how she made something exciting away from the original. The song and other details relating to it are on the aminoapps blog website below.

Galaxy Con's (2019) Review

Galaxy Con is a part of many conventions that go by the same name in different locations. GalaxyCon came in the convention status by officially taking over the trademark of SuperCons and renaming it GalaxyCon. They also have other conventions of GalaxyCon Raleigh, Louisville, Richmond, and Minneapolis. The name was replaced in all of them except Florida Supercon which kept the SuperCon trademark. The one that I did was Richmond's location of GalaxyCon. The event already occurred during three days from May 31th, 2019, to June 2nd, 2019. According to the website, “GalaxyCon is More Than a Comic Con. It’s 3 Days of Fun with Celebrity and Creative Guests from Comics, Movies, TV, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Anime, Cartoons, Video Games, Wrestling and more!” This is what I like to call a convention of many fandoms where fans come together and geek out on multiple interests. It is was very fun not just for the many fandoms but its atmosphere of welcoming all to join in the excitement. Let's not forget, all of the activities and panels were spot on. I got to experience a Power Rangers Q&A, CJ Graham Q&A, Name That OST, Conversation Menu, and Geek Goodness Burlesque. Q&As were the result of my volunteering and filming for future conventions as promotions. CJ Graham played Jason in the Friday the 13th franchise in the sixth movie. When he puts on that hockey mask in a photo shoot, he gets into character and either scares unexpected attendees or bewilders those in awe at his amazing acting skills. Name That OST (Original Sound Track) might not have been really fun for me, but it was really fun for my friend. He got coined the nickname “Celestial Being” for his shirt and correctly answered trivia three or four times especially for his favorite OST answer for Gundam. I liked Conversation Menu for it allowed complete strangers to pull questions from the menu and established a more personal approach getting to know a person. Man, the Geek Goodness Burlesque was something else, it had performers in various cosplay outfits on stage dancing, and I even heard the classic intro from Cowboy Bebop. Hands down, the best moment of the entire convention was getting my picture taken in the Pikachu Volkswagen Bug on the vendor floor. If you like a festival of many fandoms, cosplay wrestling, or have an exciting time with friends, then GalaxyCon is the convention for you. Shoot, if I had the chance to go again, I would do so immediately because this convention is one to remember. By the way, quoted from CJ Graham, “MC Anime is going to the top.”

Great Anime Endings

  1. “Whiteout” (Boogiepop and Others' ending) by Riko Azuna This is a very emotional outbreak of finding “What's real and What's a fake mask” in the song of Whiteout. Being on the verge of not knowing where you are and trying to go back is the theme of the song. Also, having no faces in the ending symbolizes the struggle to get back to reality. The continuous repetition of the words “Tell me” and “Duplicate” drives the powerful and strong tone in the song.

  2. “Uso” (FMA Brotherhood's first ending) by SID
Uso strikes me of a song that is some intangible thing is being fought over. The intangible object is an idea of a promise involving “the scarlet sky” and trying to remember that fateful day. The fateful day concerns “a promise and a vow” that was made concerns Edward and his brother trying to fill it without much success. A combination of a broken promise and very detailed illustrations of the characters really sell it as a great ending credit for FMA Brotherhood.

  3. “Step Up Love” (Blood Blockade Battlefront's 2nd ending) by Daoko
When I watched Blood Blockade Battlefront, this ending of the series would always be a blast and exciting to listen to before the next episode. The song suggests that a step-up in love was needed to happen in order of the rising tension in Hellsalem's Lot in NYC. Characters need a strong conviction and need to be able to survive the supernatural occurrences in the city. It sets the dynamic feel of various people depicted and complex emotions in the anime all tied up in a song format.

  4. “Gomen ne, liko ja irarenai” (Kill la Kill's first ending) by Miku Sawai The song explains Ryuko's decision and disobedience to social hierarchy in Kill la Kill. This is supported by “I just can't embody that persona in your mind” which means she desires freedom. Honnouji Academy traps students in a rigid system where obeying is absolute unless you want consequences for your family or yourself. Ryuko represents those who are “unable to speak out” against the academy and provides hope to a broken society. She has a hard time with society as it is and wants it to change. Basically, the song portrays something that is bigger than itself and is iconic in social disorder.

  5. “Samurai Heart”( Gintama's 17th ending) by SpyAir Samurai Heart plays on the heartstrings of a character who wants to be helplessly noticed. According to the song, “I bet you don't even see me here standing next to you” implies that Gintoki is constantly cast into the shadows. He starts to feel frustrated and looks at life differently. Gintoki's determination not to lose anything else precious to him comes into play in the song. The song paints the image of what Gintoki had to overcome as a character and his pain giving him more depth as the show continues.

Voice Actors from Galaxy Con 2019

Anime would not be the same without voice actors. Voice actors have a really diverse portfolio of characters in animated and other venues for voice acting. They go to conventions, talk to their fans, give autographs, and sometimes host panels. They give a perspective and depth to characters without anime would not have the human appeal. Today is about a convention in Richmond, Virginia which was Galaxy Con. The voice actors at the convention that I recognized which are Lucy Christan, Caitlin Glass, Josh Grelle, Michael Bell, and Alexis Tipton. Lucy Cristian has over 390 roles in voice acting and has done many iconic characters. She played the parts for Nami in One Piece: Heart of Gold, the younger version of Natsu Dragneelfrom Fairy Tail, and Wrath in Fullmetal Alchemist series. Caitlin Glass has been portrayed about 264 characters as a voice actor. Some of which are various characters in the Case Closed anime, Winry Rockbell in both the original FMA and Brotherhood versions. She might be infamously known in voicing Haruhi Fujioka from Quran High School Host Club in which she also directed the anime as well. Josh Grelle is a voice actor where his portfolio includes 207 faces in amination. He plays mostly males and some of his castings are Yuri!!! On Ice as Yuri Katsuki, Armin Arlert from Attack On Titan, and Sadao Maou or Satan Jacob in The Devil is a Part-Timer!. Michael Brown has voiced 293 times on different and one series that could count for the most is the American classic Rugats. He has also known for his work in the Voltron series as well the Transformers franchise both in the United States. During Alexis Tipton's career so far, she performed 189 characters in the being the voice of them. Some of my favorites from her are Trunks and Gotenks in Dragon Ball Super, Moka Akashiya from Rosario + Vampire, and Kurumi Tokisaki in Date A Live I and II. Galaxy Con has a lot more to offer than just guest voice actors but today that is all folks. This blog entry would not be done without the aid of the site below is such a great tool for voice actors. I suggest that you check to see which voice actors voice your favorite character(s).

Is Inuyasha a better anime than DBZ?

Question is from Inuyasha (TV series, Manga, and Creative Franchise) topic on Quora and Answer by myself

Inuyasha follows a half-demon who tries to do what is right. He later meets Kagome who has an interesting power relating to the jewel shards in the adventure genre. Dragon Ball is a shonen and has an alien who identifies as human. He soon becomes the protector of Earth and takes on many cosmic and other super-powered villains. Inuyasha has bonded to friends and go on a journey while the friendships in Dragon Ball focus to survive in several battles. I say that if you love the supernatural and demons then Inuyasha is a show for you. Dragon Ball is prolonged fights scenes at times and has a heavy focus on superpowers and Chi. The half-demon takes us on a venture into Feudal Japan and Dragon Ball portrays the Chinese lure like the Chi and a green dragon. Dragon Ball is a longer series since the 90s of 800 plus episodes and the other one had a 100 plus episodes with a definite ending. Villains in Dragon Ball are many but Inuyasha is in a brother rivalry and one in many variations of the same person. Honestly, this is a hard question to answer for the two shows are on different appeals and audiences. In my opinion, I am not able to answer the question concerning the topic of which one is stronger. My answer reveals that Inuyasha and Dragon Ball are equals in anime content and fights for the same spot in anime classics. Dragon Ball is very mainstream and Inuyasha has a cult following that suggests it is well known in the anime community. I hope that the answer helps with both shows and gives clarity for the context expressed in the 90s' appeal of both.
