Fruits Basket's Comeback
Who does not want a good splice of life once in a while? Well, one such anime in splice of life is specifically Fruits Basket. Fruits Basket has the main character Honda where she lives in a chaotic situation full of mysterious individuals who have transformative backgrounds. This anime classic has many reasons to love it including a flair for the dramatic involving family, characters having high levels of encouragement, new versions of drawings for the series, and personal empowerment in growth. The flair for the dramatic concerning the Soma family is spot on in delivering craziness. The Soma family are people of various personalities who sometimes fight resulting in lots of damage in the house. Encouragement comes in many ways and the characters in Fruits Basket definitely throw some around. These characters want the best for everyone and Honda is a strong contender for the epicenter. New visuals in the 2019 version transform the remake to be stand-alone and unique compared to the original in 2001. Otherwise, the same ascetic from the original might be lost if the newer adaption looked similar. The rapid growth of the characters is something that takes you for surprise and at times seems like Rock's personality change in season two of Black Lagoon. Growth of this multitude is constant with the Chinese zodiac mythology of discovering their true selves. Hopefully, this feel-good and emotional roller coaster of a family is worth all of the 27 episodes. Enjoy and find yourself in a world of expansive friendships and an interesting take on the zodiac lure.

Fan Reaction Driving Anime
Today is a continuation of the Audience Appeal In Anime but in a different light. I am wanting to discuss aspects of anime that make it more convincing on the idea of appeal and fan reaction. Anime is a medium where a story is told and expressed through various literary techniques. Sometimes, the complexity of anime can a show more intriguing than those with a simpler plot, but generally, the simple or complex argument does matter. The likeability of a show solely depends on the viewer's impressions while specific appeals can strengthen the overall impression. One appeal is the storytelling and how it expresses a sense of higher interest. From the New World tells a story of the old meets new in a post-apocalyptic setting 1000 years later. The anime storytelling foretells the events of humanity on the brim of extinction, genetic experiments, and controversial topics at times. Just as storytelling is a factor in appeal, we also have corruption where individuals practice unethical ideas of lies or falsification. Attack On Titan has officials who are lying to the public about the world outside of the walls. When these types of situations play out, we have everyone on high alert similar to the public outraged in Attack On Titan. Feelings for a person and other people are possible impacts on fan reactions. White Album 2 explores the concept of love and how it sometimes should not be ignored in life. Shyness accounts for missed opportunities in life and even expressing love in relationships. The source material for this post is a question from Quora. What is the appeal of anime is answered by Shinsekai Yori Tenshi on the first answer to the question and has a YouTube channel of AnimePianoAngel?

Audience Appeal In Anime
There are so many ways to engage audiences and viewers in anime. It is important to appeal to the fanbase for the fans to create renewing admiration in anime and manga. The creators respond to this by making the overall goal of the series appeared in the artistic vision. Approaching a goal in a series allows a purpose for entertainment and the rhetorical triangle. The rhetorical triangle consists of the author, the message, and the audience. The author crafts the message while the message influences the audience, and the audience responds to the author's piece of work or creative vision. Today, we are discussing some of the factors behind goals for a series and how it could impact those fans who might love the series. These factors of goals are being geared towards funny moments, relationships, fight scenes, emotions, and cultural content. Funny moments are the times where people or events influence situations to the appeal to humor. For example, Sanji's continuous attempts in One Piece to confess his love for Nami is funny because it often results in him getting seriously rejected by violence. Relationships are often depicted in anime as a means for the human appeal of a show. Love comes in many shapes and sizes like Natsu's words explaining friendship “'You don’t die for your friends, you live for them!' – Natsu Dragneel,” from Fairy Tail. Fight scenes have the morale of those defending their beliefs whether it is positive or negative. Fate/Zero has an epic fight of ideas between the characters of Saber and Lancer in winning the Holy Grail War for their masters. Emotions are a pivotal part of character development and are emphasizing the notion of what humanity is made of. A series that I think captures the emotional appeal of a show is No Game No Life where Sora and Shiro leading the charge for humans to be equivalent to other races. Cultural content is vast and represents heritage via animation of Japan and other inspirations. An anime that showcases Japanese culture is one of the longest running anime shows ever which is Sazae-san in a typical household setting. The next time you watch anime consider what you can personally take from the show. Hopefully, you can connect with a show and embrace the purpose behind it.
Sekiro and Dororo's Similarities
Important Notice: [SPOILERS] This contains major spoilers of Dororo anime and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Anime has a lot of characters and sometimes a character could be a coincidence with another character. The characters who are similar are from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice game and Dororo anime. FreeSoftware's game of Shadows Die Twice follows The Wolf who is a soldier during Japan’s Sengoku Jidai which is the warring states period. Dororo is an anime where Hyakkimaru is left adrift and becomes an orphan. These characters are related through looks, war times exposition, and overall similar experiences in life. Wolf and Hyakkimaru both have ties to the Sengoku period and had mentors who saved them from being orphans. These mentors took them in and taught them the value of fighting to overcome the evil of the world. The desperation for power is a main motive of Genichiro in Sekiro using Dragon Heritage power to rise up a supernatural army and Daigo in Dororo using his son as a supernatural sacrifice to obtain power over the land. Battle is often followed by the characters and they have the wounds to prove it. Hyakkimaru has the battle wounds where his father, Daigo, caused him to be born with malformed body parts and other birth defects. On the other hand, Wolf lost his arm in battle and sought out the person who took it. Mentors are a type of people who are bounded by teaching and the ones in both stories reflect this attribute. Both characters would not have a fighting chance without the efforts from the Sculptor, a former shinobi named Sekijo, and Doctor Jukai, a former subordinate under Lord Shiba. The Wolf is given the Shinobi Prosthetic by Sekijo which replaces his lost arm with gadgets and weaponry to fight with. Doctor Jukai gave Hyakkimaru's entire body prosthetics and one special prosthetic that is a blade and forged out of vengeance for killing goblins and other supernatural entities. With having body enhancements, Hyakkimaru and The Wolf also have an Akane background in healing. Wolf has Dragon Blood where it prevents death by resurrection and Hyakkimaru has demonic healing from his father's attempt of obtaining power. One last thing, both characters are warned about going down the dark path of killing and be cautious of the consequences of their actions.

Twitch Prime Meets Crunchyroll Premium
Previously, I have mentioned in another blog that Twitch and Crunchyroll are partnering up in streaming. Twitch and Crunchyroll already have a long-standing relationship, so it is not surprising that this is happening. Two years ago, Crunchyroll chooses the platform of Twitch to live stream their Anime Awards special. Twitch is generally known for its subscribers that have the interest for gaming and is part of the Amazon Prime paid membership. This decision was not a random occurrence but was based on the account of a preshow. The preshow was an effort to promote the Anime Awards Presented by Crunchyroll which got numbers of 1.3 million viewers. Twitch is known for all kinds of marathons and companies target the live streaming potential of Twitch to reach viewers for geek-related content. Fun fact, just the Anime Awards alone reached views of about a half million people online. It is not surprising with these numbers that Twitch would try Crunchyroll with a free trial first. Last time, Crunchyroll attempted a streaming partnership with Funimation that lasted about two years in the making. The benefiting party was mostly Crunchyroll while Funimation pulled out from the agreement in a shared catalog. If this is an indicator for the worse, then Twitch's new partnership with Crunchyroll could result in failure or success depending on the final conclusion. So, what do we know at hand? Well, we know that Twitch has a newfound partnership and has a newfound demographic with the combined interest of gaming and anime. We might not be able to predict the future of this outcome, but we can conclude a door has been opened to untapped potential. When it comes to anime and gaming, it is so closely related that the animation, the soundtracks, storylines, and character development are key aspects in these fandoms. I hope that twitch and Crunchyroll can sort through the shared revenue in the joint operation for 30 days free in Crunchyroll.

New Made In Abyss Movie
Sentai Filmworks has a recent announcement of Made In Abyss: Wandering Twilight is soon to debut in select theaters on May 27th, 2019. This movie is continuing the storyline of MADE IN ABYSS: Journey’s Dawn where it is a complication film to the original anime of 13 episodes. MADE IN ABYSS: Journey’s Dawn retells the anime episodes of 1 to 8 in where a girl looks for her lost mother in the abyss with the help of a robot friend. Riko's missing mother is still the main focus of the sequel of Journey's Dawn and meets other people to help the search. The premiere of this would be set at some point in Anime Central in a red carpet setting of 2019. Made in Abyss is a classic piece of the manga where the mysterious Abyss is just fascinating as the appeal of the show. Wandering Twilight has new visuals of animation that would be only found in this particular movie. Bonus features will take a look at behind the scenes of production and interviews. Interviews are set with the director, producer, and music composer who aided this anime project to life on the big screen. More information can be found on the madeinabyssmovies website with screening times and the possible theaters to see the new movie in the Made In Abyss series. Would going to the Third Layer of the Abyss yield results in a successful search rescue of Riko's mother or not? Watch the new movie and find if these questions are meaningly heresy or have more to go on than expected.

Tokyo Ghoul & Black Clover Legally Free
Free might seem good and all but in most stuff in life is not free. Entertainment is one such example of paying for what you watch like streaming, DVDs or movies. When it comes to anime, free usually means illegal sites streaming anime in which the creators suffer on a loss of revenue for their work. However, free in this case is actually legal and is meant for audiences on Playstation Network (PSN). People know that the Playstation store has free content for the players at times and sometimes even anime. An important fact is that PlayStation owners or PS Video apps are granting free access to Tokyo Ghoul season 1 and Black Clover season 1 Part 1. PlayStation is known for its streaming service of PS Vue and probably licensed these anime seasons legally and bought the rights for PSN. Tokyo Ghoul follows Ken Kanedgy, who is a college student, that happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The title suggests that Ken will become a ghoul or gūru meaning approximately eater species. Black Clover is about Asta and Yuno striving for the title of Wizard King in a fantasy world of magic. These two characters have special qualities like one having powerful Spirit magic and the other having no magic at all. Sometimes, anime might be pulled off streaming sites and the only way to watch it at times is to own a copy of it. This download could be the way to get access to Tokyo Ghoul season 1 and parts of season 1 of Black Clover for free. In other news, Twitch Prime members could have a free trial on Crunchyroll Premium for 30 days until June 16. Also, to have dual membership of Twitch and Crunchyroll at the same time only involves an Amazon Prime account for both. Amazon Prime allows membership to Twitch Prime and Twitch Prime temporarily allows membership in Crunchyroll Premium. Remember, most free anime out there is dangerous and is the result of piracy either on the internet or other sources. The danger consists of illegal streaming where adware or malware take control of your computers mainly through pop-up ads or redirected websites.

Anime Games in Beta Versions
Anime includes multiple references to geek culture when it is brought up as a topic. There are topics that go hand and hand with anime like anime's counterparts of manga, graphic novels, comics, magazines, or other influences on anime. Videogames are another anime-related topic and is newsworthy within the community. Two anime-inspired games that are coming up in late May are Granblue Fantasy: Versus and Code Vein. These two games are coming in the form of betas or a demo like playing style where players test the game before the official launch. Granblue Fantasy: Versus was based on the mobile predecessor under the same name in 2014. It is a role-playing gmae or RPG for short where characters have different races and artwork that will deliver eye-pleasing visuals. If you are a fan of Final Fantasy, then this game might appeal to your interest since Hideo Minaba is the director of the game. Hideo Minaba was the director of three titles in the Final Fantasy games of V, VI, and IX. According to PSLS, “Registration needs to be completed by May 23rd at 11 pm (PDT) / May 24th at 6 am (GMT).” Also, the beta is supposed to be played on May 31st from June 1st, 2019. Code Vein literally has fans roaring over them calling it an anime Dark Souls. A soldier is resurrected and is facing monsters who try to kill him all over again. Bandi Namco's registration for the game is loose but their news release says it is happening sometime in May. The story of Code Vein is anime like for its story is very complex and characters who are heavily developed. I suggest that for the ones interested in registering to go Granblue Fantasy: Versus's official website or Bandi Namco's website for Code Vein. Final thoughts, both of these games are RPGs and takes influences from anime in fantasy or vampire genres in anime.

Anime Weddings and Mother's Day
Parents are people who give a lot to have children and want them to succeed in life. Specifically, the mother is a job that requires commitment and sacrifice at times. A mom should be able to care, support, love or at least provide comfort to her children. The things above listed are generalizations of a mother's possible role in a child's life. Mothers are the ones who are there to ensure us from the good and bad, there for advice, there to encourage us, and there to keep us on the right path. Moms are also there to raise us and get us to live's milestones like double digits in age, adulthood, graduation, or other important life achievements. One that stands out is when the child gets hitched or married. A wedding is a special time in life and mothers are sometimes overjoyed at the mere thought of it. Here are times where getting hitched in anime occurred and appeared magical on screen. Firstly, Usagi Tsukino's wedding occurs in the 16th episode of Sailor Moon teaching the readers the value of waiting while marrying Tuxedo Mask. Secondly, Wedding Peach follows Momoko and Yousuke getting married in the final episode named “Last Wedding” proving that love conquers all. Next, Gurren Lagann has Nia and Simon getting married making love have an eternal impact. Finally, Naruto Shippūden's wedding of Naruto and Hinata embracing the idea When You Love Someone Enough To Let Them Go of one specific character. A wedding is a time to join two people in love and a mother is essential for planning, giving ideas, and sometimes aiding the expenses. I say that a Mother's Day should be spent with your mother and if not at least remember the times you spent with her. I hope everyone has a good Mother's Day and be grateful for the many memories with her.

Manga Mural Going on Trains
Real life and anime are more related than people give it credit for. Anime reflects what happens in actual life and sometimes reveals itself as places. One such place is Tokyo's Shibuya Station near the 7A exit or entrance where anime and manga have come alive. Tokyo's Shibuya Station is notorious for countless appearances in anime like Angel Beats, Norgami, or Tokyo Ravens. The name of Shibuya commonly refers to the shopping district of Shibuya Station in Japan, which is one of the busiest train stations in Toyko. Just as Shibuya signifies shopping, it also signifies a mural where Shonen Jump and Weekly Shonen characters are seen on the walls. Murals create a culture in the street and public art to admire and look at in the public sector. It embraces a partnership between Weekly Shoen Jump and Weekly Shonen Magazine in an epic crossover. The characters on the mural are from Ace of Diamond, Attack on Titan, Seven Deadly Sins, Haikyu and other anime or manga. A mural of this scope spans about 100 feet on walls in Toyko Metro station in Shibuya in a school backdrop. The school setting paints the scene of a time capsule aesthetic of high school life depicted in yearbook pages. Flowing is the movement across a surface in the art community and the idea of it in the mural is virtually pleasing. Characters who are not normally together are seen in the schoolyard, roof, gym, classes, halls, and front lobby of this fictional area of learning. Fun fact, a collaboration of this size between the two Shonen publishing companies has not been seen since the 2,264-page adaption of Shonen Junmaga. The mural of Jumo I Maganize would only be around for an undisclosed amount of time meaning that it is temporary. We need to thank Shueisha and Kodansha for yet again another attempt in bringing characters together in the Shonen universe of two companies. Let's hope that the anime spirit will live on in hearts who admire it and appreciate the future value of anime.
