MC Anime is for fans, with fans, and by fans of anime.

Anime's Explosive Firepower

Anime has many cases where characters or creatures have immense powers in their respected anime. However, power is not always defined as abilities but could be bloodline, use of weapons, intelligence, or overwhelming raw strength. So we are clear, power is something that comes in many variations and not all the time in these forms. Rei Ōgami has connections with the Lineage of the Hell Emperor in the show of Code:Breaker. His power is very explosive for reasons associated with the Flames of Purgatory (these flames are said to represent the seven deadly sins and incinerate them) and the fighting style based on the flames. Sasuke Uchiha is a character whose past is shrouded in darkness throughout the Naruto series. This darkness fuels his ambitions in more power and soon finds a visual jutsu, Amaterasu, which has a mysterious black flame that burns at the caster's discretion for a week's time. Egyptian God Phoenix, known as The Winged Dragon of Ra, is a monster in Yu-Gi-Oh! often requiring 3 tributes to normal summon. When The Winged Dragon of Ra is summoned, it gains immense attack points depending on card effects, and it definitely has a striking presence as one of the top boss monsters in a Divine-Beast deck. Mavis Vermillion was at one time a guild master of Fairy Tail and is known for as a master tactician. She uses these skills in battle to direct Fairy Tail members and if all else fails she still has Fairy Glitter and other powerful spells. Rebecca Lee has gotten coined the nickname of “Two Hands” in Black Lagoon. Revy's abrasive fighting style earns her a tough reputation and various experiences in multiple firearms. These individuals and monster are very capable of explosive firepower in terms of brute strength, cleverness, combative skills, and fire-based techniques. As Marvel's Spiderman once said, “With great power, comes great responsibility.” If you want to wield power, then consider the impact on those around you and close to you.

Why can't I live in the anime world?

Anime is a reflection of Japan’s culture but sometimes it is tough to distinguish it from reality. It is full of moments that are super relatable and others being a break on life. Anime, in reality, is something that seems cool; however, it can be very chaotic. Characters have different personalities which can conflict with another. Think about it, a full-blown fight scene like from the Berserk or Gundam in real life. Berserk has Guts a heavy sword wielder with superhuman strength and just imagine the damage from him in a city like New York City. How about, giant robots fighting for the various reasons clashing all over the Earth from Gundam. Also, obscene images of fanservice exploding even more than ever before. We could have people shocked and disturbed by unexpected culture shocks all over the world. The media already has cases of sexual identity and raise that up to a notch with exaggerated figures of anime-like bodies where women might be even more objected. Plus, the anime world has so many people with superpowers or superhuman characters. Zoro from One Piece and Saitama from One Punch Man are perfect examples where powerful abilities and superhuman fetes are constantly happening. Finally, the villains involved in anime goes really beyond evil at times. Imagine, a world full of Hidans or Edward Elrics roaming around and causing mayhem in society. Hidan from Naruto is a character who is basically almost immortal and has his belief of Jashin in self-harm and obsession with death. Edward Elric, also known as the Father, in Fullmetal Alchemist is hugely obsessed with living forever to the point where a mass genocide is justified in his mind. In conclusion, the anime world is not meant to intermingle with real life and vice versa.

Finally, Akira's Live Action

Sometimes an anime, it can become so mainstream that it could be considered a classic. There are lots of classics of anime out there like Kimba the White Lion, Ghost in the Shell, and Spirited Away. What do all these anime have in common? Well, these anime are specifically anime movies and a very deserving movie classic is Akira. I have an interesting connection with Akira by watching it and seeing it twice in games hosted by my anime club. The game was Anime Hot Seat similar to Charades in giving clues to the guesser without saying the words listed in the title. We tried describing it as a movie that has Tetsuo Shima gone from good to bad due to megalomanic or power-hungry intentions. It did not matter if we said it had a red motorcycle or a character with broken powers nobody could guess it. Everyone knew the anime, but the people guessing could not form the movie's name both times it was played. Anyway, Akira is getting a live-action remake. A classic of this scale is hard to imagine but might actually happen this time. Warner Bros. acquired the rights for a live-action attempt in 2002 and its release was announced May 21, 2021. It took at least five times of changing directors before Taika Waititi was announced. Taika Waititi has experience converting comic books to the big screen as the director of Thor: Ragnarok and director for The Mandalorian Star Wars series. He also wants the manga to serve for the inspiration for the movie than looking to the anime movie as source material. 2019 has been a year where live action has risen in popularity like Pokémon: Detective Pikachu and Disney remakes (Aladdin and Dumbo). Would Akira prove better than other live actions before 2019 and bring justice to the Akira name?

Dimension W Manga Saying Goodbye

Manga drives the anime for the series and sometimes the timeline in finishing is too soon. The end of a storyline might be disappointing to fans but it has to end at some point. Just because a manga ends it does not mean it is the end for the anime series depending on the popularity of the franchise. As the title suggests, Dimension W is about a strange phenomenon in which is another world existing in the fabric of space. The newly discovered hole in space has its uses like device called Coils trapping the energy and converts into an alternative power source. The story begins in 2072, 36 years later when Dimension W first appeared, with registered Coils and unregistered Coils being used in the series. This new power source runs products such as cell phones to cars in renewable energy. People start escaping the policies of New Telsa Energy when it comes to register Coils and use makeshift versions as unregistered Coils. A set of bounty hunters named the Collectors to enforce the law onto fugitives using illegal products Among these collectors, there is Kyouma Mabuchi who hates Coils and soon meets an unexpected gynoid. This gynoid has a robot body and goes by the name of Mira Yurizaki who is a daughter of New Tesla's founder. Mira joins Mabuchi in the fight for illegal Coils and uncovers secrets about them as well. Dimension W will enter in its last stage for the manga for the final chapter ending in June. June 25th, 2019, marks the official end of the manga and has an endearing impact on the fans. The entire series includes the 15 volumes for the manga and the first season of 12 episodes in English subs and dubbing. Companies of Young Gangan, Monthly Big Gangan, Square Enix, and Yen Press are the ones for bringing the manga. On the other hand, Studio 3HZ, Orange, Japan TV networks Funimation, Toonami, and other distributors all are responsible in some way for the anime. Finally, a series of this multitude deserves a shout out to the creator himself, Yūji Iwahara, for creating such a masterpiece of the future and Sci-Fi genre combined together.

Shield Hero's Anime Poll

Anime is popular in many people and sometimes the judging the popularity can be difficult. You can say if an anime is popular then the creators can gauge the success by the sales of merchandise. Yes, merchandise can yield an anime's success in some ways like Pikachu being the face of Pokemon. Merchandise only measures the success of an anime in selling the brand of the show or franchise. A more direct way for measuring is a poll giving people the chance to vote for the purpose behind it. Polls supply a voice for people regarding the anime or questions for them to express their opinion. People's words about a series can now provide statistical data or percentages reflecting the overall answers from the audience. The poll at question today is one that concerns a certain heroic-based legend in a shield dominating character in anime. The Rising of the Shield Hero had a poll from Crunchyroll focusing on the popularity of the characters in the show. On the Crunchyroll's website, the poll experienced a total of 62876 votes. The two placeholders of the poll that came in first and second are Naofumi at 39.4 percent and Raphtalia at 33.5 percent. It is not surprising that these two characters are 2.1 percent shy of 75 percent majority in the poll. More importantly, the figures could represent what a meaningful relationship could mean both for Naofumi and Raphtalia in an excellent portrayal of the understanding between two people. Fun fact, the top seven characters are either Naofumi himself or in Naofumi's inner circle who want to support him and are seen in a positive light in the show. In conclusion, it is important for polls to occur because it allows feedback from the fans for the creator and collects data in specific areas. Post scriptum (P.S.), the most popular polls in the anime community are the best anime category for types of anime, themed polls, and anime questions.

Anime Education at College

Anime has an outstanding outreach to audiences in earnings of nearly 9 billion dollars in 2017. This figure is four times more than the earnings in 2012 and proves that anime is becoming more mainstream than ever before. As anime is recognized globally, it is also getting recognition in the classroom at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). About 30 years in the making, UCI's anime club, Cal Animage Epsilon, has celebrated this medium for its impact on students and friendships outside of the meetings. On May 11th of this year, the college had its first annual event for anime which was ZotCon all handled by the students and self-funded. The spring experienced Ken Provencher, a UCI instructor, proposing an anime course to the prospective Department of Film & Media Studies. Provencher's course goes by the name of Film & Media 116 and provides “the opportunity to learn about anime from historical, social and cultural perspectives,” for the enrolled students. Just the fact that a professor wants to introduce anime as a learning scenario and a way for understanding Eastern Asian (focus on Japan) culture is astronomical. According to Ken Provencher, “'With anime becoming more mainstream entertainment for children and adults outside Japan, it’s becoming more of a way to explore transnational, or global, aspects of cinema culture.'” Let's hope for more understanding and awareness in the anime community for other generations. Anime Revelations Changing A Series

Revelations are moments in a storyline where something happens revealing shocking information. The shocking information usually changes an audience's entire outlook in a show or manga on how they perceive it. This drives the plot and creates extreme tension for an atmosphere for more unexpected details about the source material. Times, where some of the greatest revelations are revealed, are Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Naruto Shippuden, One Piece, Kill La Kill, Assassination Classroom, Fate/Staynight: Unlimited Blade Works, Madoka Magica, and Re:Zero. The revelations would not be said for reasons to avoid super major spoilers. FMA Brotherhood is the second adaption of Fullmetal Alchemist and follows the manga better than the first one. Fuhrer Bradley is an unexpected character for deep secrets but also his family in the anime. Shinobi are always fighting in Naruto Shippuden especially Itachi. Itachi is the elder brother of Sasuke and has a redeeming quality after his major revelation. Who doesn't want to be a pirate and explore the world's oceans in One Piece? Ace has taken the One Piece world by a fiery explosion and continues to shock the heck out of people even in the Marineford Arc. Assassination Classroom is a great story of students learning the arts for killing in hopes to terminate their teacher. Korosensei is a being that is almost unkillable and his true reasons for being killed is very surprising. Fate/Staynight: Unlimited Blade Works is season 2 of the series and continues with the Great Holy War. Archer is a man of many mysteries but the one that is the most anticipated concerns his true name outside of Archer. Madoka Magica has a creature named Kyubey granting one wish to girls in return for them to become magical girls to fight witches. The revelation is answering the origin of witches and the irony of the magical girls' fight against witches. Re:Zero is about history repeating itself daily in another realm. Subaru's mistake involves a simple question and that answer changes the scope of the series. Remember, a good story has shocking twists and expect the unexpected.

Top Anime Traitors

Anime has moments where a character(s) try to double-cross other people in shows. These people are the type to do anything to achieve their goals even at times mass slaughter. A classic double agent scenario spikes up the plot and makes it more interesting. Here are the times where characters got betrayed like Rock from Black Lagoon, Deadman Wonderland's Ganta, The Sins of Seven Deadly Sins, Amano Yukiteru in Future Diary, the players of Btoom!, and Princess Yona in Yona of the Dawn. Rock is captured by the Black Lagoon crew who are for hire for trade secrets. In the beginning episodes, Rock's company says that Rock would get a promotion and then have his family attend his funeral after the promotion. Ganta gets thrown in a prison where individuals use their blood as a living weapon in Deadman Wonderland. This is a case of mistaken identity where a person unknowingly has done the betraying in Ganta's case for him being in the prison in the first place. Seven Deadly Sins is an anime that consists of knights who represent the elite from Liones. The Sins are the ones who are on the run trying to escape the status of outlaws with a huge betray by a former Great Holy Knight. Yukiteru is thrown in the midst of a new successor for the God of Time with wielders of other “Random Diaries.” Yukiteru's entire timeline is overwritten by his unknown death and is brought back to life in another timeline. Btooom has characters who are sent to an island and are forced to do battle for survival. The characters are sent solely to the island based on the ones close to them thinking that they are not worthy to live. Yona of the Dawn is all about a tale of restoring power back to Princess Yona. Princess Yona has to flee her forsaken kingdom away for a person who by blood was not worth the throne he is sitting on. I hope these traitors get what is coming to them and some needing help for not understanding what they did wrong.

Game of Thrones & Anime

Today is all about anime similar to Game of Thrones where the fantasy appeal met the battlefield. Game of Thrones is a franchise that attracted many fans from anime and vice versa. With the recent ending, fans are left with more questions than answers but the glory of Game of Thrones will still live on in past seasons. The Game of Thrones' appeal is felt in shows like Arslan Senki, Kingdom, Moribito: Guardians of the Spirit, Berserk, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and The Twelve Kingdoms. Arslan Senki has Arslan, who is the prince of Pars, tries to outwit the oppressors of the Lusitania Kingdom in restoring power back to Pars. He gives similar vibes to the Starks family through experiencing hardships of loss and other related situations. Kingdom dates back to the Qin Dynasty where the feeling of war and fighting is too much of a reality. Both storylines follow a plot device where war is the pivotal force behind many warring powers. Moribito: Guardians of the Spirit has the character of Balsa who ends up saving Chagum and is contracted to protect a possessed prince. Magic on the battlefield and politics are things that are very prevalent in Game of Thrones and Moribito. Berserk has a swordsman named Guts who gets trained by Griffith and fights the dark fantasy realm of the series. These two stories are really awesomely written how they both capture the same feel from the manga and novel versions to the screen. Legend of the Galactic Heroes has the autocratic Galactic Empire and the democratic Free Planets Alliance in an epic space war. Political lifestyle in LOGH and GoT are always in a flux of people thinking that their ideas about government are right. The Twelve Kingdoms follows Nakajima Youko where one day her high school life is forever changed when she is transported to a world of very diverse kingdoms. As stated by CJL, “The world of 12 kingdoms is fantastically detailed and they each have different styles of government, culture, society and morals and ethos just like the 7 kingdoms of Westeros.” Game of Thrones and other shows like it will continue to inspire fans that gravitate towards the interesting plot in the fantasy genre.
