time for the “simple collection” playlist with some of the best songs ever written
i put a lot on here last night (and wrote about it). Great playlist, seriously.
good times
All done (sorta)
I got the “Essays” book all formatted the way I want it, proof-read, cover, Copyright info, Rights Reserved jargon, font size I like, etc. saved to Google Drive. Now I just need to pay for an ISBN number and then I can double, triple-check that everything looks good before hitting “Purchase” on the FedEx Printing cart, and then I will be pretty much done (for this batch). I will continue to RE-print the same edition, but not make any revisions whatsoever in the future, becaue I do not want to have to pay for another ISBN for a Second Edition.
Neat-o!
So I am happy that I have the “Essays” book ready to go, and that I will have PHYSICAL copies in my hand by mid-August, and that I can distribute them to people who would care to read it shortly thereafter. One will go to the 'rents, one will goto my sister's mother-in-law, Twila (she loves my writing :)), and then the rest will be held onto by myself and simply ready to be handed out to whomever is interested. This will not be an e-book. Littered Thoughts will be taken down (a lot of the stories are too short, in my opinion, and no one is sending me any feedback, anyway). I could put that up as a Kindle book, but that goes against my whole philosophy of not offering e-books for download which require payment. Selling e-books is garbage. Writing them (and offering them for free), is great.
I am not going to get an ISBN number for this book, I decided, because I cannot afford the binding that would make it library-applicable. It is a spiral binding that a library would more than likely not ccept. The ISBN number, itself, is totally affordable.
Anyway, more later.
I should be a musician
Because:
A) most people hate reading books
B) some people don't have the attention span to read an entire book
C) people shouldn't (but do) judge books by their cover
D) there is (basically) never any money in it
end
DAMN (frustrated)
But I got done what i needed to get done. I was able to make a cover for the “Essays” book and get the file format as I wanted it (+ I had to put them all in order, anyway, and proof-read them), and get it uploaded to FedEx Printing online and choose the binding, the page size, etc etc etc. So I am printing four copies (for now) that will run me just over $50. I saved it to my profile (on FedEx) and will re-examine it before ordering it on the 1st. Done!
I finally slept. Thank Dog. I was very tired/punchy. Refreshed now.
Stunning day outside.
More “decluttering”
i basically stoppedcallingit decluttering at this point. There is absolutely zero clutter in my life. I am “getting rid of loose ends” so to speak. Today I added the wired eMachines keyboard to the pile of donate...ables, because I am getting a nice Bluetooth keyboard to replace that one and the one I am typing on now. I am also donating a food journal, because my diet is everywhere but always vegetarian, so, all is good. And I may donate a couple books to te St Louis County Library today. But idk if I am going to make th trip down there. We'll see.
Fuck it. 5 AM. Coffee time.
I got nothing to do, either. I wrote that vegetarian story thinking it would be past the 1K words mark but it only grazed past 600 words :/ I will have to either expand it or start a new essay (probably start a new one). I am in no mood to write anything longform right now. I just want to start my MOnday off right with hot coffee and a nice sunrise, &....yeah. Thats all. Haha.
A Diet For Life
In my four years of being a vegetarian, I can count the amount of other vegetarians I have met on one hand. There are many on the World Wide Web if you muster together every attention thirsty YouTuber across the globe and put them in a list, which would encompass about 10 pages of names of people who eat vegetarian (or vegan) that I have come across in my entire life (on or offline). Despite the Internet being a trendy place to spend your time, I do not see that many people actually adopting the vegetarian lifestyle/diet. It's still an unpopular way of eating in my opinion.
So why do I do it? The simple answer is, I have horrible digestion when I don't eat vegetarian, and eating large amount of dairy (which I still have on occassion) upsets my stomach quite a bit, as well. I also have the belief that animals are not meant to be food. They have personalities, feelings and central nervous systems like every other thing on this Earth that possesses eyes, ears, or a mouth. They are delicate, and harmless, and innocent creatures that don't have to die in order to provide me with a meal. Unnecessary slaughter, I think animal agriculture is.
Is vegetarianism sustainable? Can it be done longterm? In my opinion, I don't see why it couldn't be. Vegetables and fruits are the only thing the human body needs to sustain itself. Nuts, grains, seeds; these are fine bonuses, but not necessary to maintain a healthy life for human beings. We are not carnivores, we are not omnivores, we are not even herbivores, we are, in fact, fruitarian. Now some of this could be read just as easily in the book “80/10/10” but the logic seems simple: if you were to go outside today, and there were no such things as grills, or restaurants, or grocery stores, or markets, or coffee shops, what would you eat? If industrialized nations were not in existence, what food would you choose to pick up off the ground, or pluck from a tree to consume? Would you go for the apple, or the kale? The plum, or the lettuce? Fruits are bathed in color and sweetness and flavor that are incredible to the human palet. Herbs, on the other hand could “get you by”. One thing that wouldn't be instinctual for a person to consume would be a wild animal. Some living thing full of blood and excrement.
Is the vegetarian diet “fun” or even enjoyable? Of course! All (literally ALL) the flavor you, the person reading this, have ever consumed that is remotely enjoyable comes from a plant product. Every seasoning, marinade, sauce, dressing, juice or jam. It's all plant products, it's all from the Earth. If someone were to have a cooking show, and their main attraction was meat, or animal flesh, they would get about 2 minutes into filming before they realized they had nothing to record. Nothing to make the meat edible. Nothing to go WITH it. Literally everything else involved besides the meat, itself (which I view as one (unnecessary) ingredient) would be plant-derived.
If the person reading this is an adult, there's good news: we have choices to make. We no longer rely on our parents for sustinence, we no longer have to eat what is put in front of us. If there is ever one inalienable right to adult humans is; we have the right to choose what we consume for nourishment. I would suggest you take it upon yourself, as an adult, who has freedom of choice, to make the RIGHT choice, and to not let other animals endure suffering for a meal that does not give you the proper nourishment you need, hurts your body short term, and absolutely destroys it long term. Be wise.
