coffee time again

DNS still won't work. gotta be something on the write.as side of things bc everything is fine on GoDaddy.

ever notice how Google is always asking for permission for things? Like to set up a feed for you, or for your location, or...JUST DO IT! Why ask for my permission when Google is logging all of these things onto their server whether i like it or not? Like, isn't the purpose of asking for permission for these services is to grant or not grant permission to Google to log/store this data on their servers?

They are giving you the illusion of choice and control when there is anything BUT choice and control when it comes to using the services of big companies like Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, whateverthefuck. So, if you can, stop using them.

this phone is gonna be dead soon. charging now...

i am gonna do some reading, i think

i hope i am not awake all night. i slept n like a motherfucker today & idk why. tomorrow is gonna be super-busy as is the day after that. and the day after that. these are all good things but as of tonight, sleep would def be nice.

i might work on Newer System tonight. i tried to work on it a bit earlier today but nothing was coming to mind when it came to the Newer Economy section (which is a new section). I have a nice start for that section that i wrote a few days ago, but it needs to be expanded drastically.

fascinating that DNS co's (like GoDaddy) cannot figure out an easier way for people to update simple (not simple at the moment) changes to their URL.

Like: “hey thx for your $$$! Good luck w/ the URL, fucking sucker!”

this DNS shit might update, it might not. idgaf at this point.

i am listening to Brick By Boring Brick which is a fabulous song that i have listened to a billion times in my life but i have not heard it since 2015. adore this song. and everything by Paramore, tbh.

i honestly don't see what i am doing wrong

i mean i suppose it could just be updating the DNS info, but, it is taking longer than it has taken in the past w/ other websites.

whatever, i am enjoying Paramore's AWKIF because it is one of the best albums ever recorded. Pandora is a good service ;)

i am glad i am not going to be bored tomorrow. got a shitload of stuff to do. And as for tonight, i need to make a proper dinner. i have been eating garbage all day. i need, like, a big rice dish or something. idk

fucking with DNS

it will work in a little bit.

i learned this this about Google how it saves IP addresses and creates a “canvas footprint” and will create a “shadow profile” for that IP address and what things they may or may not like (for “ads”) and when someone creates a Google acct on that IP address, Google already has a nice little preconceived notion about what to show that person before they type one letter into the box. Pretty fucking creepy and should be absolutely illegal. I think i mentioned all of this the other day, and if you read this blog, you know my thoughts on how big tech co's should be broken up for having data monopolies (bc data is the most valuable thing these days, it seems), but, who knows wtf will happen w/ companies like Google, FB, and the like?

ugh, ugh ugh ugh ugh

so i forwarded/pointed A-record to, this blog and the new domain should be “log.oleary.io”. Or at least i hope it is. i will find out in a few minutes. easy peasy.

So, about log.oleary.io

i want a new host. tumblr is social media and i want off of it. i also don't want to use wordpress. i may just go w/ blogger (even though it sucks for SEO or whatever). i am not worried at all about being “discovered”, i just want to have a quick little page. i will set that up later.

i left Twitter

time and time again i see a video on YT recommended to be called “Leave Social Media” and what it was is a TEDx Talk where a professor makes the case the social media makes (particularly college students) more anxious, and that using social media is similar to having a slot machine in your pocket. All social media i designed to be addictive and by using it you are doing cognitive damage to your attn span by “short-circuiting” it by consistent distraction.

He says that REAL work, REAL productivity, REAL happiness, & REAL peace comes from non-addictive living (& yes, social media is designed in a deliberate fashion to be as addictive as possible), and just being more focused overall. He also says there can be a “detox” period (like all addiction) where you are slightly uncomfortable for a couple weeks. But then you calm down. I would agree with this having gone through alcohol detox as well as other detoxes in my life.

It is bad enough that i am a desperate caffeine/nicotine addict in a single lifetime to not have to worry about neurological stimuli 24/7 as well. I think i will be happier.
