Roscoe's Quick Notes

my micro-blog

Wow! A solid 7.5 hour sleep! And I woke naturally, 10 minutes before my first alarm of the day. Can't remember how long it's been since I've had such a good, restful sleep. If the day ahead can be as good as the night behind me, that will be awesome.

Today found me stressed much more than I'd prefer. Had to deal with too many people who really had no clue what they were doing. And I do NOT suffer fools gladly!

Late night news of a personal nature. And now I find out I have two different Rosary Services and two different Funeral Masses to attend next week. Huh.

A very restful Sunday. Stayed home from Mass again this Sunday, wife is still recovering from her leg injury of last weekend and my right foot is increasingly a problem. Watched plenty of good football, lit our Advent candles and prayed, read the Bible, etc., but a Sunday without Mass still feels emptier than it should. I'll call my doctor tomorrow about that darned foot.

Playing wounded? I can do that pretty well.

Early morning concerns abouit how I would or wouldn't be able to handle the complications of tomorrow's big Mass, etc. due to my situation, my age and physical condition were dispelled by my late morning chess work. In what appeared to be weaker positions in many of my correspondence chess games, I found moves which not only pulled me out of danger but presented strong attacks on my opponents' forces.

Life can imitate chess. I'm now more confident about tomorrow.

One of the happiest moments of most Fridays is when I can switch off the alarm function of my phone, allowing me to sleep in on Saturday morning as long as I naturally can. This is one of those Fridays, and I just had one of those moments.

Early evening of another quiet day. Old guy complaining: the arthritis, especially in my right hand, has abated, but a corn on the bottom of my right foot is pretty painful now when I walk. May need to use one of my walking sticks when out. That could make Sunday rather awkward.

Late afternoon sliding into evening as I sit here at the keyboard. Today has been rather boring, but not disappointing in any serious way. The wife's injuries from this weekend continue to heal, and that's a very good thing. Her son and granddaughter in the Philippines are sick now, and that's a worry. She was able to send them money to allow them to get medical treatment and medicine, but she'll not have peace of mind until she gets word that they're getting better. And so it goes.

Up early today. Arthritis, particularly in my right hand, has been a growing concern over the past few weeks. Today it will limit the time I can spend doing certain chores such as updating the paper planner and note card system I've been using to document and organize business and personal activities for many years.

I've already set up a new planner system for 2023 that will have me doing less writing. But closing out 2022, especially during December, may be spotty and rough.

That window of time during which I have both the energy and mental acuity to get serious work done never did open very wide today nor did it stay open very long. Ah well, at least I didn't break anything. Relaxing now to news shows from various sources, and looking forward to catching the radio call later of tonight's Steelers vs Colts game.
