Today I made a major improvement over at Roscoe's Story, my brother blog to this one. An improvement that will save me time and will make it easier for visitors to read.
I fill my days with maybe more prayers and devotions than many other old boys. Being mostly home bound with my arthritis, there's not a whole lot more I can do that is both constructive and edifying.
I have a daughter and a sister back home in Indiana, both of whom are curious about what I'm doing down here in Texas. How I'm taking care of myself. How I spend my time, etc. And I'm NOT a telephone person. Never have been. Ask anybody.
So to keep them informed, years ago I started my Roscoe's Story blog, listing and posting every day how I spend my time, etc.
Anyway, rather than list each individual prayer and the specific time I pray it every day, I now have a summary page that explains my prayer regimen. Linking to that summary every day will save me lots of time, and it will make for a much less cluttered blog page than has previously been the case.

Another quiet day in the Roscoe-verse winds down.
I was able to get a little yard work done this morning. We have a flower bed that runs across the full front of our house. At either end of that flower bed are two big bushes that can transform into hideous monsters if left unattended for too long. This morning I attended to both of them, pruning quite a bit of foliage. They look much more civilized now. And I was able escape into the house, under the a/c before the worst heat of the day came upon us.
The afternoon and evening found relaxing music playing in the background as I lightly followed news reports or quietly read through my prayers and devotions, etc., while waiting for tonight's Indiana Fever WNBA Game. And that game is now underway as I sit here at the keyboard. Midway through the 1st Quarter the score finds the New York Liberty leading my Indiana Fever 23 to 16.
A very quiet Monday in the Roscoe-verse winds down.
My main Monday chore, doing my weekly laundry, was handled this morning: two loads of laundry washed, dried, and put away before Noon.
The afternoon found me making a few loan payments, one of them online and two by phone.
Most of the rest of this day was spent listening to relaxing music, working on my chess games and quietly reading my regular prayers and devotionals, etc.
And the adventure continues.

Recovery Day number three. That pretty much defines this Sunday in the Roscoe-verse.
The last really physical thing I've done was mowing the front yard: that three-hour job on Thursday morning. Three days ago.
Despite a good (for me) sleep last night, I dozed off twice during the day today. The first time was while following news reports on the Internet, and the second time was while listening to the Texas Rangers / Houston Astros MLB Game. Which I'm very glad my Rangers won, by the way.
Significant arthritis pain today was mainly in my hands and shoulders: that from pushing my lawnmower around the yard Thursday. This was also a very low-energy day, which manifested itself in the two naps mentioned above.
All that having been said, I don't FEEL bad. None of today's symptoms were really unexpected.
After a good night's sleep tonight, I look forward to tackling my Monday chores tomorrow, and moving into the upcoming week confidently.
And the adventure continues.

Ready for the special “brush collection day” on Monday.
There is one big tree in my front yard and several in the back. I try to keep up with fallen branches as they happen, cutting them into smaller pieces and stuffing them into the big green organics bin for weekly collection by the city. San Antonio schedules a yearly special “brush collection day” where they collect piles of branches too large to fit into the plastic bins that get collected weekly.
Pictured above is my little brush pile for this year's special collection.

As expected, this Friday has been a “Recover Day.” Yesterday's yard work, while not particularly heavy for a younger, healthy guy, took its toll on this old boy. And I've been moving slowly and carefully all day today.
A little later this evening I'll be tuning into the WNBA On ION Pregame Show ahead of tonight's game between the Indiana Fever and the Atlanta Dream.
Go Fever!

Early evening Thursday, and I'm exhausted and sore, but satisfied at the amount of work accomplished that got me this way. I spent 3 solid hours this morning, from 08:00 till 11:00, mowing the front yard and hauling big branches from my staging area in the back yard where I keep such things, out to the front yard near the curb where the city will haul them away on a special “brush collection day” next week.
While I was mowing, took the time to briefly chat with the young neighbor next door and compliment him on his new lawnmower.
And the adventure continues.

Early afternoon Wednesday and I'm happy to note this day has been much less stressful than yesterday. The financial moves I made yesterday proved good. I'll want to make a phone call tomorrow and another on Friday just to make sure the rest of this month runs smoothly, but I'm not expecting any problems in that regard.
It's seasonably hot. High temps are running in the mid to upper 90s, with the humidity that gives us heat indexes in the 115 degree range. Days are mostly sunny with chances of popup thunderstorms in the afternoons. July in South Texas, you know. Hopefully the ground will be dry enough on Saturday morning for me to mow the front yard.
And the adventure continues.

This has not been my favorite Tuesday. When I woke there were three self-assigned chores ahead of me.
Chore #1 had me physically going to my bank and trying to transfer funds. No complaints about my local bank, folks there were friendly and cooperative. The two external banks I was trying to use to transfer funds from were disappointing. It was later in the afternoon I was able make the transfer using a third bank. Several stressful hours wasted.
The other two chores were: for the first one, surprisingly easy and gratifying; and for the second one, frustrating to the point where I was glad it wasn't something I really had to do. So I decided not to waste any more time on it.
Now on Tuesday evening I'm hoping for a much easier, better day tomorrow.
