Late afternoon Monday and this day has already been acceptably productive.
The weekly laundry is all done and put away, and the front walks have been trimmed. Good enough, that.
The day's chess work still remains, but I'll get to that after I put this quick note online.
And the adventure continues.

Goodbye, X (Twitter). Tired of how ridiculous it has become recently, a few hours ago I cancelled my X account.
Last month I cancelled my FaceBook account and while I miss seeing the family pictures and having “easy” contact with some friends IRL, I don't miss FB at all.
I'm quite sure I won't miss X. There are other places, better places on the Internet for an old boy like me to hang out and enjoy the company of like-minded folks, to keep up with events, etc.

It's almost tip-off time. Tonight's entertainment in the Roscoe-verse will be following the radio broadcast of the Indiana Fever vs the Los Angeles Sparks WNBA game.
I'm much more a fan of the Fever than of the WNBA. While I try to catch as many of the Fever games as I can, I've got no interest watching games between any of the other teams.
Unfortunately Caitlin Clark, Indiana's star player, will have to miss tonight's game due to a groin injury. But the Fever is still an excellent team, even playing without her.
GO FEVER!
And the adventure continues.

So I've been enjoying one of the most relaxed Independence Days I can remember.
Nice and quiet.
The most challenging thing I've done is eat the feast my wife prepared for our midday meal. Stuffed pork belly and SO many side dishes. I helped by policing up the kitchen while she took a well-deserved nap after we finished eating.
I don't expect much in the way of neighborhood fireworks tonight. We've had off and on periods of rain all day long and they're supposed to continue through the night. So I'm planning to catch the Macy's Fireworks Show on TV this evening.
Then prayers, then bed.
And the adventure continues.

In Time for Independence Day

Replacing the Texas State Lone Star Flag, which I've had flying for awhile is my new American Flag. Just in time for the Fourth of July. I mounted it on my front porch pole a few minutes ago..
Happy Birthday, America!

A quiet Wednesday winds down.
The only work of consequence I got done today was cutting up a big branch in the back yard this morning that came down a few days ago during a recent big wind, then stuffing the pieces into the big green organics bin for the city to haul away tomorrow.
And the adventure continues.

“We're not spring chickens anymore,” she told me. “Neither one of us.”
I had just shown my wife the little note book I use to track my daily health metrics: body weight, and blood pressure. And I'd pointed out how both my body weight and my blood pressure have been so much better over the past week or so, especially over the last few days, than they have been even a few months ago. Then I added, “But I feel like crap. So weak. And it takes me so darned long to recover from even the smallest amount of work.”
“As long as we have our health,” she said, “that's the main thing.”
Yeah, ... after thinking about our little talk a few minutes ago. She's right.

I shall label today “Clumsy Monday.” Because that's what it's been in the Roscoe-verse.
From stumbling around this joint, barely avoiding falling, throughout the day. To spilling a full cup of coffee on my work desk. I've still managed to get the day's main chores taken care of. And at least I've managed to not break anything... yet.
When days like this come my way, past performance has shown that my best course of action is to lay low, take it easy, and hope for a better day tomorrow. So that's been my plan.
Hope your day's been good.
The adventure continues.

“It's Baseball Time in Texas,” I heard the announcer say.
I've just tuned into the Texas Rangers Gameday Show ahead of the Rangers game this afternoon vs the Seattle Mariners.

Late-afternoon Saturday finds me physically sore, physically exhausted, but satisfied with the amount of work accomplished this morning. Before the worst heat of the day set in I was able to spend a couple of hours mowing the back yard. If past performance is any guide, tomorrow should find me in less pain than now, and with higher energy levels. But I'm resigned to be “zombified” for the rest of this day.
